God loves everyone... except gays, unbelievers, the promiscuous, and people I dont like

It pisses me off. I, personally, am an atheist, but I do feel that religions has a place in society and can teach us important lessons. The peaceful nature of Buddha, the forgiveness of Jesus, the wisdom of Confucious. The first abolitionists, the people who fought for women's rights, workers rights, civil rights, the philosophers and artists and great thinkers who brought us into the rennaisance and enlightenment, they were all influenced by their conviction and religious beliefs. But it seems that more and more religion is used to back up hate speech and discriminitory practices.

I'm a republican. But one who hates the stanglehold the "Moral Majority" has over my party. Why are we against gay rights? Because it will "destroy the family"? No, thats not it. It's that it will destroy our idea of what a family "should" be. Its so hypocritical that they can't accept other peoples lifestyles, but when the ACLU comes and says that they can't display a wreath on their front door [which is utter bullshit], everyones up in arms. Live and let live. Don't press your beliefs on me, and I won't press them on you.

What did your lord and savior Jesus Christ say? "Whatever town or village you enter, search for some worthy person there and stay at his house until you leave. As you enter the home, give it your greeting. If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town." What does that mean? Preach the word, but if someone is unreceptive to what you are saying, dont force your beliefs on them. Lady, its great if you "lived in darkness for 22 years" until you found Jesus, but im doing just fine without him.

"Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye?" What is the bible saying there? Fix your own damn faults before poking into other peoples business. Jesus also said that noone is perfect [except God], which means that you will ALWAYS have faults to work on. So noone is ever in the position to tell someone else what to do or not to do.

And the story about how Jesus stopped the adultress from being stoned. Have christians forgotten what that is about? Jesus states that noone can judge others but his father in heaven. So whats with all these people going on about how everyone is going to hell but them? Shut up, honestly. Read about what Jesus said, and dont twist his words so that they can suit your own reality like so many established churches have done. The guy had some good, simple ideas. Love your neighbor. Forgive. Show kindness. Thats what its all about.

GOD LOVES EVERYONE. IM A FIRM BELIEVER IN THE BIBLE AND IT STATES THAT GOD HAS LOVE FOR EVERYONE. GAYS AND LESBIANS ARE WELCOMED AT MANY CHURCHES. THERE ARE EVEN GAY PASTOR. AND ITS PRETTY VAIN OF U TO SAY THAT GOD DOESNT LIKE THE PEOPLE U LIKE.

I don't believe that she intended to say that God doesn't love them. I believe what she meant was that the many people who are claiming to be religios are the one's who are unloving, judgemental, and holier then thou. I'm not saying that this applies to everyone, however, there is a lot of unnecessary judgement and condemnation going on throughout the world from people who claim to represent God and his will.

Also- why are you writing in capital letters? Don't yell... it's just someone's opinion.

Just because you're an anomaly doesn't make you a rule-setter.
The 'Christians" that protested at the funeral of a gay soldier are the ones who give your religion a bad name.
It might be a good idea to hold some protests of your own against the Christian Coalition and other similar groups and let it be known that there are deeply religious Christians out there who will stand up for what's right.

Although I am a firm believer in Christianity, I really do feel that people ignorantly apply what they think the teachings of their religions are in the wrong contexts and as a means to judge others. I admire how much knowledge you have about other religions, even though you are atheist. I wish more people had more knowledge about religion before they use it as reinforcement to point fingers.
