Okay, so this really isn't a ProgressiveU post, but I'm dying to say...
I finally got to hold Aybra last night!!

It was the first time I'd gotten to hold her since she was born on March 31st, so I was about to go insane with frustration. Looking at her and touching her through an incubator hole isn't at all the same thing as getting to hold her in your arms. I was supposed to get to hold her weeks ago, but she had to be put back on the ventilator so that, obviously, didn't happen. She extubated herself the day before yesterday though so they're letting her go without the vent. Smart girl! She's doing great without it.
And she likes me! Well, better than Aloshua did any way. He always turned blue when I would hold him (every time, without fail for the first 2 weeks we were allowed to hold him). Aybra just cuddled up and peeked at me and only dropped to 68 (blood ox) once.
So sweet. :D
Anyway, I know that wasn't ProgressiveU material, but I absolutely had to share. I'm so excited! You may flog me now for making this a blog entry instead of a forum post and for it not being relevant (and I don't know, sadly, how to break the post so the pictures don't show in the preview and Fanaile isn't online right now to tell me how.. soo...).

Yay! I won't flog you because I'm excited too!!!
Wooooot!

It's freaking awesome!! It was 5 weeks before even sis got to hold Aloshua because he had the two surgeries during those 5 weeks, but I got to hold him then too. It's been SIX weeks with Aybra, and she's doing so much better than he was. Talk about going crazy; another week and I would have exploded!

Going well enough. New job in the same field.
Still plugging away at the math degree to teach high school math.
I doubt that I'll blog as much as I used to, but I'll put up threads when something strikes me. Put one up today.
Must go. Enjoy and again, congrats.
Congrats on the new job! I hope you're liking it!

Thank you! Glad to be missed.
Thats so cool! You're very open! Congrats :-)
Thanks. It's a great thing!
I've been around here forever, so I like to share these monumental moments, especially given that so many have had our family in their thoughts and have been sending along encouragement and good cheers and such through the experience. ProgressiveU is an awesome community! :D

Definitely a super excited moment, at least for me hehe. I'll gladly share the excitableness of the moment. Er.. can a moment be excitable or is that just a state of being?!

I've been told that before lol. I always liked my mom's nails when I was little, so I started letting mine grow and just stuck with it. Makes a huge difference!
She's 3 pounds 1 ounce now, which is totally awesome. She'll be at 4.5 before we know it and so much closer to coming home!

I'm so happy for you Fallon! I know how much you stressed through her pregnancy, and then the delivery and dealing with Alo and Kaia since then. I'm glad you're getting some payback now :)

It's definitely a great ending to all the worrying I got to do! Getting to hold her kind of puts it all in perspective and is kind of like a sigh of relief; she finally feels real. Not that she didn't before... but now she seems more connected in some way, more like she's doing better and it's not such a make or break moment anymore and she won't go away before I get a chance to know her. Probably the miscarriage anniversary talking and probably sounds totally insane, but yeah. I never said I didn't have issues!
And thanks! :D It's such a great feeling and so awesome that I get to share it with you guys!

Even more awesome than getting to hold Aybra though.... she's coming home this week!! If all goes well and we can get her equipment company to get her apnea monitor to the hospital Monday morning, she'll be home Monday afternoon!!!!!!!!!!! So everyone who prays... please start now hehe!

LYKOMGYAY some people actually do care... imagine that.
I love when people come back and the first thing they say is something completely moronic that shows how little they know about the community since their departure.
Brilliant.

Actually, several of us do care. Aybra has been in an incubator for the past four months and as a community, we've been following it and worrying about her. If you don't like it, you don't have to continue here and you don't have to read such posts.

The fact that this website has degenerated to Xanga-like posts. And from an Alumni Director, how despicable.

And as someone who has been here for more than 2 years, you should know what the reply link is.
We have formed a nice little community, and sometimes it's nice to hear a little about the personal lives of our friends, rather than focusing solely on politics. Sometimes, someone just needs to rant or celebrate something, or needs a little advice. It's not a crime, and there is a place for such posts here.

Just because I know about the reply link, doesn't mean I care to exercise use of it.
And nice community, you guys strayed from your original objective. I'm proud.

You do realize that this is summer vacation, right? These are not competition blogs right now. Had you been here during the contest, you'd have seen more of what you seem to be looking for.
Also, I've read the blogs from a couple of years ago, and there was a lot of crap out there during the time you so idealize. I think the quality of this past contest was far better than much of what was written before the 200 word limit.
