Hi everyone!
I'm new to this blogging underworld that seems to be so popular. I just happened to stumble across ProgressiveU and it seemed so interesting, I wanted to join. I am just recently trying to wean myself from my Facebook addiction (it is so very hard) and furthermore, i wanted to try something new. I am not sure of what proper blog "etiquette" or what things might interest you all, but I am always willing to learn. To keep from boring myself and everyone else to death here are a few pertinent facts about me:
-woman
-African-American
-20 yrs old
-college student pursuing B.S. in Economics
-idealistic
-fun
-opinionated
I like to believe that I am very intelligent, but am willing to learn and discuss new things. There are many of us that are pursuing a college education and I think, get lost in the books. Sometimes you have to step outside of that biology book, or that accounting book, and look around to see what is going on this world. There are many of my peers who are straight A students, but can't tell you the platform of the potential Democratic nominees. They tickle themselves by believing they share a sort of nouveau Enlightenment, a sort of Talented Tenth complex (if you are familiar with W.E.B. Du Bois you know what I speak of) to the nth degree, yet are actually ignorant. And there is nothing, in my eyes at least, more inexcusable than ignorance. We are the sons and daughters of the information age, there is NO excuse for willful ignorance. Especially as minorities. What good is the education our ancestors fought for if we still insist on blind ignorance?
But, I think I digress. Actually, there was no real point, lol. I just wanted to tell everyone a little about myself and give a little food for thought. Because as Erykah Badu once said, "knowledge is infinite, it is infinitely powerful."
Ok, so those seem to be the most important things I can think of right now! So until next time, Adios! peace and infinite blessings....
p.s. please leave suggestions, comments, introduce yourself!
