When I think about progress, I think of something or someone moving forward. The direction can be unclear, whether it’s good or bad, but it’s going somewhere. It can be any topic for any walks of life. However, I don’t think progress is slandering or insulting another race, religion, nationality, etc. People have different beliefs and different opinions about things, which make us individuals, and we all have the right to speak about it. But to put down some else’s belief or opinion is rude and hurtful. People can disagree and say their opinion, but not tell the blogger that they are wrong and don’t know what they are talking about.
I don’t think progress is limited to the latest things on the news. I don’t think it is limited to the great debates like abortion, religion, or politics. Progress can be able personal progress like things that people have overcome, personal improvement or defeat of a struggle or battle. It is not about how much you hate a person or how horrible your day went, but about advice and ideas that can help others. It can be about blogging a testimony or experience that you have overcome for someone else to read. Many people struggle with all things in life that we keep hidden, but if someone spoke out about what they went through and how they overcame, it makes us feel like we are not the only ones and we can do it as well.

You're right. Progress can be in either direction. But it's time we settle our matters diplomatically. We've evolved enough, haven't we?

Well said. Islam defines personal struggle as jihad. Not altogether a bad thing, certainly.
