Finally someone else figured out that Dr. Phil is ridiculous

So this is probably a bad first blog but I got up this morning and
there on MSN's website was finally another human being who thinks Dr. Phil is the second most ridulous celebrity on the face of the planet. (personally I think Borat is the first, but that's just me.) I never really understood all the hoopla about Dr. Phil. So okay, Oprah supported his unconventioal thinking back in 1998 but 10 years later why do we still care? On the one hand, some of his advice, while mostly plain old common sense, is effective. On the other hand, he isn't a doctor. Thats right, I said it. Dr. Phil is not allowed to practice psychology. He violated standard ethics, hired a patient to work in his office with access to other patients' personal information, got his lisence suspended and still hasn't complied enough with the ethics board to get his license reinstated. Why is he still a public figure?

The latest news is that a Dr. Phil staffer bailed out a Florida teen accused of joining in the mercilessly beating a peermate, videotaping it and posting it online, solely so Dr. Phil could have the exclusive interview. What is going on with the general population, that this is acceptable behavior for a public figure? And this is after the whole Britney Spears drama. Really people, why are we allowing this guy to be broadcast to the inpressionable masses?

I think Dr. Phil is ridiculous, as well as totally sexist. Sometimes he has some good common sense advice, but most of the time he's totally sensationalist .

Common sense is as rare as genius. ~Emerson
