Breast Cancer/Abortion correlation?

I'm going to bring this up because there is not truth to it but I don't want to cause a debate.

Abortion is a topic where everyone has an opinion and it is very unlikely that any of those opinions would change. I say this because I don't want to change your opinion I just want to set the record straight.

I was walking back from class today and there was this anti-abortion van with many pictures of babies etc. Well it also said Abortion Causes Breast cancer. I had never heard this before so I went to investigate. It of course depends on which side you are on but I found a few articles on it. Basically as of right now there is no proven scientific evidence of the correlataion between abortion and breast cancer.

The thought is that the hormones during a pregnancy cause the breast cells to grow and then when a baby is suddenly lost it could cause breast cancer.

The article from the American Cancer Society says that it is hard to research for many reasons. One is "that healthy women are less likely to report their histories of induced abortions. In contrast, women with breast cancer are more likely to accurately report their reproductive histories because they are searching their memories for anything that may have contributed to their disease."

The reason it might have been on the van is because of the supposed cover-up that was/is taking place, according to The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer. "The bioethics journal, Ethics and Medics, published a hard-hitting editorial in its December 2004 issue accusing the British journal Lancet and the scientific community of corrupting scientific research examining the abortion-breast cancer link."

Although I'm less likely to believe this if most of the sites I have been on they have reasearch saying a mixture of things. I don't believe stuff until there is a definate link and so I feel the van should not have put it as fact when it isn't just yet.

Thoughts about this? I would love to hear what you think.

I would trust the American Cancer Society first because they're a non-political medical research group. If they found a link between the abortion and cancer of any kind, they'd publicize it. Taking as truth anything that is printed on an anti-abortion van is like believing a man with a smoking gun in his hand who says he never shot nobody nohow.

Even if there was a link, why would that mean we should ban abortion? Smoking causes cancer and it's still legal to smoke; alcohol's been linked to certain cancers too, and you can drink as much as you want to.

They haven't proven Evolution either, yet they teach that it is factual. Somebody get me a banana.

They haven't proven that God exists, either, yet you think it is factual DESPITE a lack of any actual evidence. You just want there to be a link so you can tell people that abortion causes cancer, because your other arguments have proven ineffectual.

..but not surprising at all that the pro-life movement is willing to intentionally misrepresent the facts in their attempts to scare people into agreeing with them.
