I cannot understand the point of todays fashion. One thing that really bothers me are those half sweaters that literally everyone and their mother are wearing. Please don't misunderstand me I think these sweaters are cute and I even wear them myself, so I am not bashing people who wear these sweaters. However, if you really think about it buying half a sweater really doesn't make sense except to the companies that manufacture these sweaters. Half sweaters are one of the most genius ideas clothing companies have ever had. These half sweaters cost about the same as whole sweaters and they take less material to manufacture. So clothing companies can make the same amount of profit using half of the material. And do people walk around wearing only these half sweaters? Absolutely not, because that is a dress code violation in any school and almost indecent exposure in most states. Not only does the consumer buy half a sweater they must also buy a shirt to go underneath the sweater. This allows clothing companies to receive even more money. I promise you whoever developed these half sweaters undoubtedly received a promotion or got a huge Christmas bonus. It seems that now all clothing companies are aware that layering clothing is a good way for them to make more money. Now when you walk into the store (especially girls) every top imaginable has something else that can be worn with it. I don't know about you but I find this really annoying. Sometimes I just want to buy one top, but unless it is a T-shirt there always seems to be two tops I have to buy to be properly covered. Now people even layer polo shirts. And that is completely unneccessary, I mean polols are expensive, why wear two days worth of clothes at one time? Whatever, I'm sure the people at polo don't mind that some people feel compelled to layer their polo shirts. I wonder how much their shirt sales have increased since this trend developed? Welll I have rambled on long enough. Does anyone else have comments on today's fashion? I would love to hear about it.

I like today's fashion insofar as there is such an eclectic mixing. While people of different fashions may not necessarily associate, the juxtaposition apparent when an Hollister girl walks alongside a "Just woke up" guy is pretty nifty!
I like the layered look. Sometimes you just gotta know where and when to shop to get good deals.
What I like about today's fashion is that it actually gives you the chance to choose whatever you like, and still look 'fashionable'. It doesn't matter if you are a little bit crazy, a little bit rock or a little bit shy. You can still find something according to the fashion that suits you just fine!
"Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months."
- Oscar Wilde
And that's why I want to make my own clothes. I knit and crochet, which is great - if I want to make a half sweater, I buy enough yarn for a half sweater, and that's that. I can also make my clothes fit me perfectly, something no designer will ever do.
I think there's a preconception of what fashion is and most think of the models walking the run ways every season with new lines from top designers. If the jeans i have end up dirty ripped and torn from working in them, someone might think im trying to make some fashion statement if i have my designer sunglasses on or other people might think im a dirty slob. Fashion is just someones opinion and we all have them.
