Last night I got a chance to watch the youtube debate for democrats. What a brilliant idea. We get to ask the questions and they have to give an answer. It seems early to make a decision but the truth is primarys are right around the corner. I'm assuming we're mostly all over the age of 18 and I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to vote, and not only vote, but educate yourself on the canidates. Whether you're republican or democrat or right in the middle your vote does say something to the people that are currently running our government. Its no secret that I do not like the bush administration and what its done. My husband is deployed right now and I honestly have no one else to blame but the president. Hearing these canidates and what they have to say it makes me have new hope for this country and our government. I am not a strictly right wing or left wing believer. I base my vote soley on the issues. Key issues for me this election are social security, health care reform, the war in iraq, and immigration laws and illegal immigrants. One democratic canidate that has not made headlines every day, who I really didn't know much about and you probably don't either, is Bill Richardson. He is the current governer of New Mexico. Something that sets him apart from the other canidates is that he's a governor, not a senator. He has a lot of experience within our government. I think someone that governs New Mexico is already dealing with illegal immigrants on a daily basis and so may have a leg up on how to deal with the situation. Also, I really like where he stands on the war in iraq. He wants the troops out now! No residual forces. As for health care reform he is approaching the situation much the same as the other democratic canidates. Keep what we have and improve on that. I really like this obscure democratic canidate for his different experience and for his candor. He's a really blunt mexican american man who appreciates the middle class. He was born of the middle class. Who better to deal with so many of the issues before the american public? That's really good. I wish everyone would think like that because parties really don't mean anything.
Don't get your hopes up because I doubt America would ever vote for a Mexican-American president. Not that I would personally be against it, but I'm just stating the facts.
I know exactly who I'd want to be president but he would never run and no one knows who he is, haha.
