Senioritis

What exactly causes senioritis? Most seniors start feeling the effects of senioritis around this time of year. Some of us tend to accumulate absences, tardies, and lower grades. By this point in the year, most high school seniors have been accepted to a college. Because of this, a lot of seniors do not feel the need to continue working to keep their spot at their college. What some seniors fail to realize is that colleges can decline their acceptance. Another cause of senioritis is stress. The majority of us are all stressed by this point in the year, and are tired of the habitual schedule of getting up early, going to school, and coming home to do homework. Now that we no longer have to use our knowledge for tests, such as the SAT, some seniors feel that they no longer need to continue learning. Senior only festivities also cause senioritis. Prom, senior breakfasts, meetings, and picnics are all at the end of the year. Most of us seniors would rather have fun with these senior only events rather than sit in a desk for an hour and some odd amount of minutes. We are all looking forward to graduating so that we can move on to bigger and better and leave the immaturity behind.

I don't think senioritis is caused by thinking ahead about college or adulthood. I think it is because they thunk backward instead. Maybe because they just realizes that it has been a long four years, that they "have worked hard enough," so they get lazy not realizing that their whole future still lies ahead of them. It could be for others who think that they can't possibly pull it back together after four years of bad grades.
Me personally, senioritis does not effect me at all because I like thinking ahead. It is sad however to see my classmates barely come to school, not even 2 days a week.

I think it has a lot to do with college. You've already been accepted to a college and you're pretty sure you're going to graduate, so what's the point? That's how I feel anyway.
