Advantages of Being a Grayshirt

Joining a college athleytic team is a big thing for a person coming out of high school.Especially when here at CSM ,where the football team is ranked nationally. That means there is a lot of competiton for every position.Coming out of high school i was always the biggest guy around. When i went to my first practice here were guys my size and bigger that would give me a run for my money.Throughout summer practices i was putting up a good fight for the offensiveline position. I always heard that being a grayshirt is a great advantage for a person trying to become a great college football player. After summmer was over i was struggling learning the new offensive play and a was slow physically for the college level because of my weight. I went to my offensive line coach and asked if i should grayshirt. H said it would be ann advantage to me. So i took his advice and grayshirted. Being a Grayshirt means you take less then 12 units which makes you ineligible to plat football in tha fall semester. The advantrages academically are you rid orf classes early so you don't have to take them later and you get to learn how the college system works. From a football stand point you have all year to learn the offense, get in better shape, and you lean and see how college football works. A grayshirt has to be willing to work extra hard if they want to be at the best when its time for them to shine on the football field.

i agree joseph lil man, do whatever you feel is right, do whatever you feel your ready for. It really doesn't matter what others say or do, "be you and do what you do"
