Massage Therapy Medicinal or Sensual?
By pxidust79 - Posted on April 26th, 2006
Touch is the oldest form of medical treatment dating back some 3000 years ago. Touch therapy is described in the oldest known medical journal sourced from 1800 B.C. Yet modern day views of sexuality and touch as a reference to sexual stimulation gives massage therapy a negative connotation. Despite the proven effectiveness in relieving the body and mind from stress, anxiety, cirrculation and many organ dysfunctions; the age old "Happy Ending" scenerio prevents much of society from participating in this far less invasive form of medical treatment. Other misconceptions is that massage is only for the pampered princess and should only be used to indulge oneself's ego. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself through reading and experience rather then jumping to the conclusion that theraputic massage is to treat the sexual side of human nature. Do not confuse sensual massage and sexual massage with each other they are different.

matt support your local Massage school... not only does it help out the student.. it's half the price of a salon.
I graduated from a thousand hour school. I soon learned that I did not believe that real changes could take place unless the sensual was combined with therapeutic. Strict therapeutic massage involve poking, proding and does not come from a heartspace. I have been working for 10 years but still face guite a bit of judgement about sensual work. There is a significant difference between sexual and sensual bodywork. And therapeutic and sensual massage compliment themselves nicely. . .
