Have you ever thought about how you are made to go to school and they prepare you to go to college, then when it's time to go to college, you're on your own? I didn't realize it until last night. I have been out of school for seven years, and now that I'm trying to go back to college, money is standing in my way. Everyone could have such a better future if there were more options available to help pay for college. I remember when I was in Spanish class, our teacher told us that in Mexico, as long as you are a Mexican citizen, they will pay for you to go to college. She said that it didn't matter what you majored in, the only catch was, they would have you work for free for so many years to "pay them back". That sounds fair enough to me. I just don't understand why it has to be so hard for adults to find available scholarships and why college has to be so expensive. This wonderful country would be so much better and everyone would have a better life and future if there would be some easier way of paying for college or attending college. So many people have so much to offer the world, if only they would be given the chance.

I believe that every high school should REQUIRE a math class on creating a budget, keeping a checkbook, learning to SAVE, and fiscal responsibility.
I would want it to be a semister long, so that the student can get a feel for having to budget over multiple weeks, as compared to making a false budget based on false figures that does not teach day to day living on a budget.
They also need to be taught patience... just because you graduate and are out living on your own for the first time does not mean that you 'deserve' or can afford a 200k house with 0 down on a 30 year ARM.
I would really benefit from some money management classes. Living paycheck-to-paycheck really catches up to you when you get laid off!!
Which means... you still go into debt. You have to pay for your living expenses during the years you're in college, as well as those years you're working for 'free' to pay back the government. In Mexico, that might be worth it. Here in the US.... I think I'd rather pay for college.
