So my question here is, should you be contented with your current state of affairs, or discontented? Is it better to change your mindset to adapt to your environment, or change your environment to adapt to your mindset?
Contentment - If we as a society are content with the present, everyone will achieve happiness. This is the basic definition of 'contentment', so dont argue about 'well EVERYONE wont be happy!'. However, any transgressions and flaws of society will stagnate, and while we may be happy in our own minds we will never get to where our true potential lies.
Chaos - If we as a society are discontent with the present, everyone will be miserable or angry. Due to everyone's undesired emotions, change will occur to achieve a better, brighter society. However, chances are that in that newer concoction of human interaction everyone will STILL be discontent. This is the catalyst of change, and the reason why we strive to progress to something better.
So my question is this, do you want to be happy or do you want to become a better person?
OR
Can you become a better person while being happy?

Since state of affairs are often change, I would say it would depend on the affairs in question. :P
