What to charge a friend for a website

Hi, everybody! Can someone give me advice on something? What I need advice on is that I have to design a web page for one of my friends and she asked me what I would charge for it and someone told me that I should charge less since we're friends. So, I was wondering if $50 would be a good price to charge her? So, can someone please tell me if that's the right thing to do? Thank you, very much!

What do you usually charge people? How extensive is the website your friend wants you to create for her? Are you going to be responsible for helping her with updates and such? I'd take those things into consideration when thinking about pricing, as you could end up doing days worth of work. Find out exactly what she wants first, and if it's about the same thing as you normally do, I'd personally charge her about $20.00 less. My husband is a tech and he only charges friends and family 20.00 labor, no matter what he has to do to their systems and sometimes spends forever fixing them. He's too kind hearted in my opinion and in the opinion of most of the friends/family that have had him work on their systems. They'd much rather pay him 50.00 or 60.00 dollars than to take it to a shop and spend over a hundred. He just refuses to accept anything over 20.00.
