If the United States brought the draft back, would you fight or flee?

I have heard talk of the US having to bring back the draft because of the low enrolment in the army so my question to you is, if the draft was brought back would you fight or flee?  Would it depend on if you agreed with what was going on politically at the moment or would you feel compeled to serve your country no matter what?  For me it would depend on what was going on politically and whether I agreed with the situation or not.  Right now I would not join, I very against what we are doing politically.
I hope it never comes to a draft but if it does what would you do?

Mines not a High Horse's picture

I think all of us would like to pretend we are strong enough and fearless enough to dedicate ourselves to the country that has given so much to us, but at the end of the day, I think we are all terrified.

I don't see the draft passing - the democrats are throwing the word "Draft" around as a scare tactic. Some of them believe that if the draft were reinstated bush would think twice before dispatching more troops. I don't think we need to be worrying about it just yet, and the only attitude I can fathom is one of "let's cross that bridge when we come to it."

Personally the “government” does not represent me. I did however serve in the military and came away with some useful skills. My kids are not going to support any acts created by this totalitarian state. We are strong, able, and educated. I would go to war against domestic issues long before I went to war for corporate greed in a heartbeat.

If they bought back the draft and my number was picked(or birthday), I wouldn't go. There is no war that America would wage that I would support. if they were sendeing tropps to actually help people, lets say in the Congo, where no benefits can be made(no oil for US), then I would be more willing to go. But it they tried to draft me to go to Iraq, I would run to where the hippies went.
