Sponge Bob goes next to the Penis or does it?

Okay the most annoying thing to me is when people speak with out thinking and invariably say something they do not actually mean; and today i am guilty of this 'sin' i told my son to put his "chonies" on and i reminded him (so he did not put them on backwards again like 3 year olds do) that spongebob goes on the penis because he does not understand the whole in the front backwards inside out thing. of course he comes down from the upstairs potty with his "chonies" inside out (sponge bob on the pens like i said) crying because his spongebob sheets and pillow would not fit in his under garments...how do you explain with out confusing the what out of a 3 yr old how to put his clothes on right...the picture goes on the stomache....the button goes near the belly button and the little sponge bob use to go on the penis ..come on guys what should i do

I'm so sorry, I had to chuckle, that story is just too cute...

Anyway, your child sounds very literal; much like I was. The best way to communicate with him would be to do so literally. I don't know how many pairs of socks I ruined because my mother would tell me to put my "shoes and socks" on and I would try to stretch the socks on over my shoes before she came to realize that with me, she *had* to say "socks and shoes" or I would be oblivious.

You can try drawing a "tag" on these chonies with a permamnent marker (making sure the marker is well set in, try drying it a few times after to be sure it won't come back out), and explain about the tag going in the back. That way when he gets into clothes with a tag, it won't be too hard of a transition for him to learn the difference.
