On February 18 2008, Kosovo officially declared independence. The only problem is that under extreme opposition by Russia and Serbia, who refuse to recognize them as a country, nobody really cares about this small break off these two countries.
Surrounded by mainly mountains and Serbia and Russian ruled countries on either side of this 4,203 sq. miles, has a hard impact on the world. As the United Nations and the United States, back the small country that has fought for independence for a long time, most of the world goes on without even a flinch that this newest country has become a country. Surrounded by opposition on either side this small country deserves the recognition. It was a republic for almost twenty years, since 1990. This country deserves some recognition by the world not just by the United Nations, who is helping to defend this small country. We are making history now. Do we really want to let this little country disappear in the mass confusion of the world or more the war in Iraq? This country has been through worse, yes, but it is a chance for us now to make it better for them. They are just as important as another country there has ever been. Our country went through a revolution and a war before we became united as one, do we really want to put another country through that? Save Kosovo by caring and remember next year on February 18 to wear red and black in honor of Kosovo’s Independence Day.

I CARE!! I do! I can't really do anything amazing but I believe in a country's right to exist. If the people declared independence then they deserve their own country. I sincerely hope that Russia doesn't succeed in strangling them out...

I completely agree with you! I care big time. I presonally study Russia a little (a precious little but I am trying to change that). I am sad however, when Algeria was declared a country and not a colonial power everyone was talking about it, what about the czech republic? It seems as though most people are more obsessed with their things and not issues such as the liberation front!
