Story of a man and his food

I know that it is hard to get into a healthy eating regimen but why don't more people try to learn?  Why do so many people eat bad food?  I know, I know, you just can't stop, but follow me into the life of a person who just loves to snack on unhealthy food.  A hefty man in his 60's with a double chin, double belly, double everything is sitting on the couch and thinks to himself, I could use something to snack on while watching the Oprah Winfrey show, He is watching the Oprah show because like most men he has a heart of gold and very sensitive side who I might add likes to stay informed on all the new gadgets that Oprah likes to give away free on her show.  I digress, badly, anyway he goes into the kitchen and picks up a container of oreo cookies and returns to the couch and eats half, his blood sugar spikes, his body recognizes this and releases insulin to lower blood sugar and to transport it for use as energy, energy, he doesn't need energy he is watching Oprah on the couch, A few minutes later he feels hungry again because his blood sugar is low, so he goes to the cupboard and finds some Doritos and eats them all, then the same thing happens again, you know about the insulin in the blood. Boy oh boy I am hungry again he replies.  Before the Oprah show is even over he gets back up for something more to eat, but wait didn't I already eat half of my cookies and a whole bag of family sized Doritos.  Well I am hungry and don't want to deprive myself so I will get just a little something, there it is, just what I have been looking for, the apple?  Apple?  What in the world.  Did you know that after eating an apple you will be full, especially after eating all that junk.  Then you can stop eating.  You won't even want to eat for at least a few hours.  All the fiber from the apple expands in your alimentary canal and you really do feel it.  It also has disacharides which are way better than simple sugars because they have to take a little while longer to digest, thus keeping your blood sugar from spiking yet again.  It actually levels it off.  Now is the time to break the cycle, and start eating healthy.  "An apple a day keeps the doctor away".

I'm not sure if you know this, Chad, but Doritos and Oreos are delicious. I'm talking really, really good. Better than anything God could have made. And with gastric-bypass surgeries and tummy tucks, who needs to eat healthy? We're living longer than ever and loving every fat-filled moment of it! Disacharides, shmackerides. I don't want to eat something that sounds like it was made in some science lab. I want a king-size snickers, and goddamnit, I want to wash it down with a liter of coke.

Disacharides are the type of sugar that is in an apple. It is made naturally by nature just given a complex name. Monosacharides are in simple sugars takes less time to digest. It is opinions like these that get everybody so fat and insulin dependent. WHo wants to live a long time when you have so many health problems, like cancer your body can't fight off because you haven't consumed enough vitamins, like hipertension and heart disease from all that saturated fat consumption. Wouldn't you rather live longer healthier or longer in a wheelchair or hospital bed its your choice and your life.

I love fresh fruit, and it's my favorite snack, but *sob* I can't afford it. So I just sit there and whine about how hungry I am, because in my house, we only buy meal food. There is no snack food, so if you're hungry a couple hours before dinner, too bad, you just have to wait.
