WHY SHOULD THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TRY TO MAKE AN ENEMY OUT OF A STRATEGIC MILITARY AND DIPLOMATIC ALLY IN THE MIDDLE EAST. The united States house of representatives don't seize to amaze me. If you want to cause trouble because you hate Bush, at least think about all other Americans. Please. A committee in the house has passed a non-binding resolution that would recognize the Turkish government as an instigator of a genocide that killed 1.5 million people. The problem is that the genocide happened almost eight decades ago, by a predecessor government called Ottoman empire, and the Turkish government takes it very offensively.
The question is what does this resolution do, and why should we give a hoot about what the Turks think. The answers to these questions are fairly simple as well. That resolution does practically nothing positive and like the Defense secretary said it "looks back almost 100 years to an event that took place under a
predecessor government, the Ottomans, and that has enormous present-day
implications for American soldiers and Marines and sailors and airmen
in Iraq". Now, the part 2 of the question; Turkey is a member of NATO, and support America in almost every military operation. Turkey has served as a key hub for transferring supplies to our brothers and sisters at war. Turkey is in the middle east. And lastly Turkey is just a good buddy.
Why cause this needless trouble. I understand that the democrats in the house might be interested in making diplomacy difficult for President Bush but this may have a long term impact on American-Turkish relationships for generations to come. Please call your representative and tell them to please cut the crap.

I love that many democrats claim to support our U.S. military and then turn around and put those they claim to support in jepordy just to make Bush look bad. If that is the sort of support I would receive from a democratic government, I want none of it! No thank you!
