Students ought to have a right to human dignity in school disciplinary procedures. They ought to have a right to freedom of religion , freedom of speech. A right to not be involved in anything that takes away from their school work ( child labor). They ought to have a right to feel safe. However the attached press release will show you that these rights are not being protected and the approach of administrators is "no tolerance". More suspensions, less guidance counseling. Students being slammed up against the wall. Students being called names by administrators and police officers. Students being handcuffed for no reason. It's understandable when you are in a situation and you can't stand up for yourself. But Joel Klein ought to be able to stand up for our schools... take those cops out of there. Put more counseling and guidance in there. Stop making our schools out to be prisons. These are not just wrong but they are blatent violations of the UN document of the rights of a child. Libre !Libre ! Free our schools from oppression.
I am encouraging anyone who has felt that their rights were violated by a police officer, school official or someone in authority to relate the story here. Documentation and awareness will allow people to know these are not isolated incidents ...These are the flaws of our Educational system...in the US and especially in NYC

I know, it's terrible. Why their isn't enough guidence in these schools is because our schools are very irresponsible with their money. They use it for cool things in the building to make it look more attractive or something totally unneccesary. So they have no money put towards the education itself. And as for the cops situation if you read my blog on here you'll see what happened to a young man with the cops and a local church, Discusted. Anyway youi are totally right, our educational systems are lazy, irresponsible, and totally unqualified to do what they do. Do you know that you can teach children with disabilities or emotional problem at almost any school without even attending one day at college. It's sad because these days your education is your future
