Soccer is my life. I've played since I could walk and watch the national teams religiously. I've played on varsity for my high school since freshman year.
Not too long ago, in October of 2007, I was fooling around on the soccer field with my club team and took a weird twist on my right ankle. We had x-rays done and found only the tip of my fibula broke off, so treatment was stay off the foot and use crutches. After a few weeks things weren't getting better so we saw an orthopedic doctor who said that it was probably a ligament problem so I started physical therapy in December. I thought I'd be back to normal within a few weeks, the school soccer season is from February to April/May depending on state playoffs. When the tryouts came I took things easy, but the pain persisted so we saw the orthopedic doctor again. This time we had an MRI done on the ankle. Today we got the results. The inside of my bone is broken... this kind of injury takes around 6 months to heal. I won't be able to play soccer my senior year, my only escape from the stress of AP classes and the stress of just everyday life has been taken away.
Oh, how I wish just for once that the tears of a Phoenix really did heal everything.
