Minority President

Is America ready for a minority president? There has been speculation about Hilary Clinton as well as Barack Obama running for president in the future. I'm not sure how this country would react if a woman or black man were voted into  presidency. I believe that the majority of America is very conservative and would find insult in having a minority as a leader. Personal following plays a major role in politics. The likeability of a candidate relates to his or her race, sex, and background. A candidate's platform and stance on political issues should be more of a deciding factor rather than vanity. Americans tend to look down on developing countries and nondemocratic countries  yet all of our presidents have been similarily white, christian males. There is one black male, who is conservative, and one female on the supreme court. Why does such a diverse country like ours not mirror this into politics? Barack Obama is said to maybe run for president in 8 years or so. I believe he would be a wonderful candidate as he seems responsible with a platform I can agree with. Yet, I don't think America is ready to vote for a  minority president. Maybe we are set in our ways and are unable to look past vanity.

The only thing I have against this is if they go over board. What I mean by that is say if Hilary was president and she went full blown woman rights. Or if Barack Obama became president and went full blown into minority rights. I mean having new blood could actually cause good but it is a double edged sword and can cause more harm then good. It all depends on the person. If it does happen they have to do a good job in order for others in their group to be capable of doing the same.
