“And Tango Makes Three,” A picture book about two male penguins raising a baby penguin outrages many parents but school administration is reluctant to ban it. This story is based on a true story of two male penguins in New York City’s Central Park Zoo that adopted a fertilized egg and raised the chick as their own.
There is no reason that this should be resticted any more than if mom and dad penguins were raising a kid. By even saying that the book should be banned is saying that being gay is wrong and that is not a message we should give to our kids. This book is not directly about being gay, it is about raising the young penguin, and it is based on a real event. I do not think that this book should be banned. If anything I think we should encourage our kids to read it so they become more accepting of homosexuals.
