I was walking around downtown San Carlos the other day, near where I live. It was a warm day with a slight chillness to it, which to me made the weather beautiful. I'm enjoying my walk, while window shopping, when all of a sudden I start to smell something horrible. I look behind me and there is a person walking behind me who is smoking. This is the same situation right here at CSM. A place where people go to learn and educate themselves. I know that I personally do not go to school to smell cigarette smoke.
It seems that no matter where a person goes they will always be near a person who is smoking. My beautiful walk that I was so greatly enjoying was now ruined because someone couldn't hold back on their addiction to nicotine. In essence, I feel that smoking is disgusting, not only because it can give a person cancer, but also because it is extremely unattractive (to me anyway).
In order to solve the problem of people smoking around others who do not share the same interest, we could say to have certain areas that are designated to people who smoke, but would this really work? Even though there may be certain smoking areas in the community the wind could take the smoke and carry it past the smoking areas into the noses of pedestrians just walking by. Is there any solution to smoking in public, or do the people who do not smoke just have to live with the awful smell of the smoke coming from the cigaretts?

I hate cig smoke- actually I am allergic! At college there are "reserved smoking areas" but the funny thing is, most of the smoking areas, non smokers HAVE to pass to get into the building.....what the hell? I don't think it works at all, but if a person wants to kill themselves with their little addiction- what can I do? All I can do is hold my breath everytime I have to pass them.

whenever i walk out of my class, or whenever i am walking to class.. or any where around CSM for that matter.. i seem to always get cigarette smoke blown in my face, its really disgusting. i hate the smell of cigarettes i hate being around the smell of that and i dont want my clothes or me in general to smell like cigarette smoke, and i deffinately dont want second hand smoke. its just nasty.. they sould really do something about it.. its out of control.. like no offense to any who smokes but thats just my opinion.
