First Post, Gay Marriage

guardian of death's picture

HEllo, this is my first post and well i felt that I needed to address a topic about which i feel strongly. I honestly think that gay marriage should happen. As weird as it sounds, watching the movie, 'HAIRSPRAY,' has made me realize that it is time that people start changing.

I think that any people should have the right to marry, once they come of age of course, ANY PEOPLE should be able to enter into matrimony and confess their love for one another in front of family, friends and God.

Yes, i don't only see this as a political issue but also an issue with the Church. It is time for the church to change too and start accepting gay couples as part of the community and enter into Holy matrimony.

Why can't people just let other people live in love and peace? Why must other people always judge and label? BECAUSE OF DIFFERENCES... who cares, if everybody were the same, there would be no spice or excitment in this world.

Also, I would like to include that I totally support gay adoption. If they want to be parents and tehy pass the screening tests just like any other heterosexual person (couple) then why not let them adopt too. If they cannot produce children, then why not let them adopt a child to have a family? There are plenty of children in this world that need a home, by letting gay people adopt, we could lessen the amount of children on the streets in need of homes and loving parents or guardians.

The bibles also are mistranslated to the point where it makes gay people sound evil. There is nothing wrong with being gay, it is just another part of someone's life. Why do we not persecute people for being heterosexual? So why should we neglect, shun, and mistreat homosexuals?

I also don't understand the idea that people have that homosexuality is bad or disgusting. Love is beautiful. I don't understand why people sit there refusing to make friends with gay people because they are different. It is discrimination and even segregation. People need to open their minds and get used to different ways of life exitsting.

Where did the idea that gay men (especially) are perverted and evil? I heard one time that a parent wouldn't let her child play with another boy because he had gay tendencies, but in no way did he ever abuse his friend. Where does this stereotype come from? it makes no sense. Just because a man is queer doesn't mean that he is a child molester or a pervert, it just means that he likes other men.

The other one that always urks me is the idea that gay men have no self control. One time a guy i met said to me that he wasn't comfortable being around gay people because he didn't want to ged raped. I was like, "HELLO, What makes you think that someone would want to rap you?" I know that sounds harsh and what not but I think what i was really trying to say was that homosexuals can have same-sex friends and not want to do anything to them in that sense.

If any situation were like that then I don't think women would like the idea of going out in public to hang out with heterosexual guys...

I guess I just want to say that I think the government and the church have really stuck their noses in something that REALLY isn't their busicness.

So i say to all readers, open your minds and accept the idea of homosexuality, and when the time is right, go out and make a homosexual friend.

intresting post.
Although I have little experience in with the whole Gay world, I did want to comment on the part were one guy was scared to be raped or something and that gay people can have same sex friends with out wanting to have sex with them . I think this is more commen amongst males because they have no female friends that they do not want to have sex with...they like girls and have female friends whom they would sleep with in an instant they simply translate their own mantality over to gay people....I guess it is honorable thing to do to figure gay as the same for the same but really it is diffrent.
I am not sure if that made any sense or not but i did like you post even though there was not much facts to it

all truths are easy to understand once discovered; the point is to discover them ~galileo

The whole problem with the issue of civil equality for gay people comes from a combination of things.

1. Right wing religions who can never admit they are wrong with their ancient ignorant hatred, or else their claims of infallibility fall apart, the people realize how they have been fed a diet of garbage, and the process of putting these right wing bigoted religions into the dustbin of history will begin. We see it in Islam, we see it in the catholic church and right wing protestant churches, and we even see it in variations in the orthodox Jews.

2. These religions thrive by terrorizing people with their threats of burning in hell if you don't follow them, and the promise of eternal life if you. To me and more and more people this is nothing but a combination of terrorism and an insurance scam.

3. The history of mankind is re pleat with examples of where dictators, be they secular or religious always have to have someone to hate, to rile up the people so their minds and eyes are blinded as to what they are doing.. HItler certainly was an example, but lets not forget the Catholic Church, which in combination with corrupt kings murdered 50 million Muslims during the dark ages. the lie was that it was to 'save them for Christianity', but the truth was it was all about stealing the treasures of the middle east's advanced for its time civilization. Societies have long memories, no wonder it is so easy for them to hate us.

4. Right wing unchanging religion is desperate. They no longer control the governments (unless you want to live in Iran or Saudi Arabia), they no longer control what people see, read, hear etc, given the communications revolution - TV, Satellites, the internet, radio, worldwide cellphones, and Jet travel. These right wing bigots fear - correctly they are losing control and hence money, and that is what it is all about, not GOD, so they lash out. Islamic terrorism is one example, but we have it to spare here in the US, where religion is trying to turn America into a Christian Theocracy, and down the drain we go as a nation.

5. And today, the people they use to stir up hatred are the GAYs., who are rightly demanding equality under the law. Reminds me of the beginning of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust.

6. Every one of us owes it to support our gay citizens rights to stand before their government as equals. We all owe it to them as their fellow citizens to help them end the form of segregation they endure, namely often being forced into the closet. Since they can't be in general segregated by something readily visible like race, and quite a few have achieved middle class stattus, the only thing left for the bigots to use us to try and terrorize gay people into the closet.

&.And lets not forget how so much of anti gay bigotry is supported by words we don't hardly recognize as such. Every time someone swears about/at someone and calls him/ her a fucxxxg asXXXe, how many realize that this is actually related to a hatred of gays. Every time someone uses the term "that's gay" to refer to something as 'studpid', that is bigotry. There are other examples.

We have a number of gay friends. Knowing them has enriched our lives. Knowing them - the two I know best have both admitted they were suicidal, e.g. one told me how he "held the revolver in his hand" contemplating suicide, for he so feared coming out to his right wing father when he was 17. And he is a perfectly nice guy who would never want to hurt anyone for any reason.

Homophobia is an induced illness. It is driven by backwards looking religions which have forgotten all about things like love thy neighbor as thyself, there but for the grace of God go I, and Judge not lest ye be Judged. Everyone of us owes it to help cleanse our society of this terrible shame.

George Bush and his right wing jackbooted lockstep republicans have used anti-gay hatred to try and cover up their catastrophic war in Iraq, a war based on lies, ignorance, and arrogance. Just like Hitler used hatred against Jews to gain power, and at the same time offer the people a militaristic view of the world that resulted in 50-70 million deaths and unimaginable suffering.

Bush's only goal is power, and power, and more money and more money. The Bush family are billionaires, but that is not enough. Recognizing early on that the Iraq war was headed for a calamity, they decided to focus hatred onto gays demanding their civil rights. We are losings, thanks to Bush, the war on terrorism. Our own national intelligence estimates say that the Iraq war has driven another 30,000 people into the arms of the Jihadists, witness the endless suicide bombings. It also said in the most recently released info that Al-Qaida has rebuilt itself, they are stronger then ever. We are now seeing almost daily bombings in Afghanistan, and trouble starting in nuclear armed pakistan. The number of deaths of Iraqi civilians is running at a rate DOUBLE THAT of last year despite the surge. Of course Bush's whole goal on the surge is to keep Iraq from its ultimate total collapse, as it must, until he leaves office. There is no good solution to Iraq, it's government is a non- functional vacationing mess, while our troops, whose lives are just pawns in Bush and Cheney's games, continue to die. About the only thing we can do is tell them it is up to them, we will provide material, training, and logistics help, but they solve the problem or they die by their own hands, and there will be absolutely no asylum for its leaders, anywhere.

And don't forget that due to the Iraq war consuming our focus, Bin Laden is still free.
Thank you George Bush. And to think I WAS a republican all my life until 2004.

thanks to all of you for taking the time to read my entry. I hope you will return to read more later and i will surely be happy to read some of your blogs too
I really didn't think of this surge of homophobia being used to cover the war but now that you mention it it does seem understandable (excuse my spelling)
and as far as the put downs, yes i thought some to be rather insulting and have actually tried spread the word of changing the term 'that's gay' to someting a little more suitible. So if you are all pro-gay (i am not saying you have to be gay) then help spread the word.
to the first, thanks for your input and i know that a lot of it wasn't really based on facts as it was my opinion and i am going to say this, as this is my blog, i will reflect my opinions on it and possibly later discuss the facts... if that makes any sense. Other than that, thank you for your commenti do appreciate it. And at times i felt myself raising up a 'yellow card' meaning slow down... i need explaining, but i think i got it for the most part.
Thankies to all
^_^

First of all, let me make it very clear that I think it's way awesome for you to stand up for what you think is right, even though a lot of people disagree with you.
I personally hate homosexuality. But I do not hate the people who are homosexual. Some of my best friends are that way. That's something else the Bible teaches: to hate the sin, but love the sinner.
Now about gay adoption, I don't think it should be allowed while homosexuals are so persecuted. That child would be made fun of and avoided at school, and would probably grow up with huge psychological issues. Be careful to think about all the effects of this. Yes, the couple would initially be happy to have a child, but that child might come to hate them for dragging him or her into the mess that homosexuals have to put up with. Now, if people can all learn to love the sinner but hate the sin, I think we should be more open to adoption for these people. But right now, it's just too dangerous for the child.
I prefer to take more moderate standpoints on this kind of thing. I hate to condemn, but I don't want to be completely ok with everything when God clearly points to some of it in His Word and says, "I don't like this; it's wrong."
Oh, and SteveMD2, please avoid terminology like "right wing jackbooted lockstep republicans." Just because someone has different beliefs from you doesn't give you the right to call them names. I happen to be a right-wing Republican, but I don't hate the Democrats. I don't agree with everything they have to say, but I'm certainly willing to keep my mind open toward them and not offend them if it isn't necessary. You'll lose a lot of credibility with name-calling. I've learned that from personal experience.

The difference between hating homosexuality and hating homosexuals is not very big. When a group that hates the 'sin' (and I'm not saying you specifically) pesecucutes, discrimnates against, fears, hates and infringes on the rights of the 'sinner', I don't think it makes much of a difference where the hate lies.

well it's good to hear from someone with another point of view...
but i must say... if you are putting all your faith in the bible as far as this topic is concerened... i am sorry to inform you that the bible was mistranslated as far as it says about homosexuality being wrong. the original term was something like 'promiscuo' which was basically a hired prostitute in some way... but when it was translated, it was translated as gay... so no where does it actaully say that God condems gay people...
Secondly, it is unfair to label the future by saying 'developing psychological issues' as far as the gay adoption idea goes...
To be fair, one must also look at the idea that the child doesn't even have anything to begin with and is being brought into a family with parental figures who care about it.
Isn't the love the child is shown by parents more important than being made fun of.
How i see it, love from the parents and a family who provides what the child didn't used to have is the major part of this.
And i do like your saying 'hate the sin but not the sinner,' i just don't like how it is kept being used to imply that homosexuality is a sin...

The bible does not imply that homosexuality is a sin...it never uses the word. However, it does say (this is my breif rendition of what it says i will find the actual location and wording later) that it is wrong for a man to sleep with his mother, sister aunt brother other men and cousins. I have seen other people on this site argue this part when talking translation. What it all comes down to is everything is a sin anyway we just do the best we can...oh yeah a sinner/person cannot condem any one or thing only God that is why God calls for love. I will refrain from assigning a sex or gender to GOD and acknowledge that some cults and wackos beleive that they can judge and condem and kill and so on.....................................................

guardian of death's picture

interesting way and diplomatic about not assigning a gender to GOD... kudos

and umm yes i did read that in leviticus.... and well we all have to remember that we can't solely rely on the bible for guidence because... let's face it... it is an outdated book and.. it is afterall biased to the points of view of the writers and of the church,.,, the church actually went in and filtered the books that they would 'allow' people to read... so it's all a conspiracy if that makes any sense...
and as i was talking to a nun.. she was explaining to be about the difference betweein sin and human conditions and sin and emotions... well isn't love an emotion? can we not help for whom we fall? no because our emotions take over... it is a human condition...
if that makes any sense...

thank you for your comment ^_^
