Well my name is Priscila and I personally do not smoke. But my whole family does. I lost my Vovõ (grandpa) last July from cigarette smoking. He had cancer that spread to multiple areas of his body. He completely changed after getting cancer. His body and voice changed. He didn't look like my Vovõ anymore.
I don't want anyone to go through the struggle I had to face by losing my Vovõ so early. He was diagnosed and passed away within a year after.
An addiction is hard to break, but think about the pain you will endure, if you get diagnosed with cancer. Think more about the family you will leave behind if you don't win the battle against cancer.
My Vovõ wasn't like most grandpas. He was in his early 60's, worked out on a daily basis, mowed yawns over the summer, and worked full time at a restaurant. He was young for a grandpa and very healthy. The only bad habit he still had was smoking.
So if you smoke the number one thing that should be on your mind is to quit smoking. Because you only hurt the ones you love every time you take a hit of that cigarette. Most people say that they would do anything for their family. The best thing you can do for them is quit smoking. Because once you are 6 feet under, all they have are the memories.
If you currently smoke, give me a true reason why you can't quit!

Good article...lots to say but it is never that easy.
My best friends dad is a chain smoking alcoholic even after his quadruple bypass...some people just dont see it this way that you do even though what you say may seem like common sense. Unfortunately commen sense is rare and hard to acheive and master.
A wise quote from a moron is my motto...stated by Mater on CARS... all I have to do to keep from starting smoking again is to remember just "too not too" althought sometimes it is easier said then done.
Nicotine is a major nerve receptor chemical and smoking has a feel good stress releiving quality that can kill you.
Believe it or not the tobacco cessation people/ experts say you have to quit at the right time otherwise you will just start again. So a good reason to post pone dropping this habit is if your going through a tough time and already have enough to worry about. Of course if it the problem is a money thing it would suit you well to calculate the growing expense.
other people are motivated not by emotional matter such as death but logical ones like expense. The stench of smoke cannot be a motivator because it is part of the addiction. I remember when i felt i needed a smoke but was traped i would just sniff my fingers or something a get my quick temp fix. sounds gross now...
some times there 'more important' asspects of people's lives that need to be fixed before kicking this habit. A non dependant cannot understand.
When encouraging to quit be understanding, respectfull and even curious... anything else will be ignored or taken wrong.
