It seems like guys nowadays dislike condoms, for whatever reason.
“It cuts down on the feeling” – okay, I can see that. Yeah, it’s sex, you want to experience it fully, and the condom doesn’t allow that. I’m not going to be one of the people who claim that condoms don’t do anything at all. It’s just like wearing a rubber glove and having someone touch you, I’m sure – you can feel it, but there’s this weird extra layer there. However, most of the girls I know aren’t on birth control, or, if they are, they’re on the pill and they forget about it. A lot. Not using a condom coupled with little to no protection on the part of the girl means that there could be bigger fish to fry later on, be it pregnancy or an STD. Or two.
“It’s the responsibility of the girl to have protection” – I can kind of see this, too. Guys like to keep condoms in their wallets, which they keep in their back pockets. Their body heat then wears down the condom. Because of this, it’s strongly recommended that guys don’t have the condoms in their wallets for extended periods of time. They shouldn’t keep them in their car, because of the temperature extremes experienced inside of the vehicle… If they keep them in their rooms, their parents could find them. What’s the last option? The girl carries them in her purse. But a lot of girls think it’s the responsibility of the guy to have them… And once you start, it’s hard to stop… But sometimes, it’s best to pull back and look at the situation at hand, you know? Stopping makes it a lot easier to think.
“It ruins the moment”. Yeah, heaven forbid you actually have to stop for a minute to unwrap and unroll one. This is one I have absolutely no sympathy for. Later on, STD outbreaks or a crying baby could ruin a lot more moments. Hm. One minute, or the rest of your life paying for a poor decision?
“It makes me feel like less of a man”. Well, you’re kind of whining like a little boy, honey. Put on the condom - we don’t need anymore of you running around.
In your first sentence you say "nowadays." I honestly don't think guys have ever really liked wearing condoms. The thing is, STDs were not as common a threat thirty years ago. Then, birth control was usually sufficient. With STDs so much more widespread, condoms are more important than ever before.
