My First Election

tauruschild8927's picture

I just turned 18 and filled out my voter registration paper and just about to mail it! Yay me!

I finally get to partake in the action that many people crave or ignore. YAY! But here is the bummer. Who to vote for in the 2008 Presidential Election? I have not really been keeping up with the election process and stuff. I know that it is all-important and stuff but yea. I know what issues I want to be addressed but finding the right candidate that fits what I want is hard. Okay I am done rambling. I was just so excited about voting and how now I can talk and walk the talk and walk. YAY!

An easy way to figure out which candidates you like is to either visit the websites of the GOP or DNC (or whatever other party you like). They'll have tons of info about all the potential candidates. Also, you could easily go to any major media outlet and research the primary debates (the GOP just had theirs a day or two ago). From there, you can get names and research their entire history on wikipedia.

Depending on which candidates you are looking up, some of the candidates will have their biographies on their party's website. This will mainly be the senators though. I'd suggest that if you look them up on Wikipedia, that you find another site that has an edu, gov, or org domain to back it up. I've found that Wikipedia isn't always the most accurate, especially on politicians.
