Confession time *takes a deep breath* IM GAY! I am actually a lesbian. I have a 'partner' or as some would call it and her name is Myranda. You have probably already seen my profile picture and she is the brunette. *whew* now that all of that is cleared up I just wanted to talk a little bit about my opinion on gay marriage. Honestly, I dont see why there is not allowed to be marriage between people of the same sex. Government should not be based on the bible and in fact, when they were writing the constitution all religious affiliations were left out for a reason. You have a freadom of religion and just because a religion might say that its wrong to marry one of the same sex does not mean that it is applied to the entire United States of America. I love my country and I love that we have more freedoms than every other country but what should not be an issue is who should marry who. You cannot tell someone that they can not love another being and you cannot prevent someone from doing so. It is unlawful and unjust. Being a lesbian myself and wanting to settle down someday with my partner does not make me discusting or rude. I do not dissobey or break any laws that have been set by my state government. I am a U.S. citizen with ALMOST the same rights as any other citizen. The only right that has been withheld from me would be the right to marriage. I am a good, hardworking student that is going on to college and am ready to start my future and start my life. Homosexuals and Heterosexuals are exactly alike, aside from their sexual preferences. We too eat food, we too go to movies, we too HAVE SEX and wish to MAKE A FAMILY. Honestly I think that homosexuals are a great way to regulate reproduction in the country. Many lesbian and gay parents adopt children from countries like China and Guatemalla. Countries where female babies are put on the streets and abandoned because their not wanted nor welcome in their own home. People are People. Relate back to the Holocaust when Jewish people werent alowed to even LIVE in other communities outside of their ghettos. Discriminating against homosexuals on the basis of their lifestyle is the same as discriminating against Jewish people for their ethnic background. We are who we are and being America, one of the top world powers I think we should grow up and accept the people in our country for who they are and accept their lifestyle because it is in no way harming anything or anyone. It does not break any laws of the constitution therefore it should not be illegal.
