Its been a hot topic in the news lately. . .What is it? Drumroll please. . .
Global Warming.
Hear are some simple ways to decrease the daily impact. But before that lets inform/ make sure we know what global warming is. These are simple everyday things/one time thing you can do that won't dramatically change your lifestyle
Global Warming is an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate and that may result from the greenhouse effect.
Greenhouse effect is an atmospheric heating phenomenon, caused by short-wave solar radiation being readily transmitted inward through the earth's atmosphere but longer-wavelength heat radiation less readily transmitted outward, owing to its absorption by atmospheric carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane, and other gases; thus, the rising level of carbon dioxide is viewed with concern.
5. Unplug it! Unplug your cell phone charger when not in use. Don't leave those computers on stand by. .. They suck up energy on sleep/ stand-by so just turn it off.
4. Carpool. . .We all have heard it 1000 times; give a ride or take mass-transportation.
3. Recycle. . .If you don't have a recycling program start one. To those that have a program USE IT! They have done the hard work. . .stop being lazy and trash it the right way.
2. Don't litter. . .Just keep that trash until you get to a bin. . .Throwing those burger wrappers out the window kills our wildlife and polutes our water. It all comes back to you anyway so protect it.
1. Plant a tree. In it's lifetime it sucks up a ton of carbon dioxide!!!
NOW. . .WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE?

wow. a ton of carbon dioxide?! that is crazy!! i want to add that energy efficient light bulbs are amazing too! I once heard that if every home in America replaced five of the light bulbs in their home with five energy efficient bulbs, it would be equal to getting five million cars of the roads. plus they last so much longer.
I try very hard to be good to the enviroment by eating organically and trying to save on energy. My husband gets really really mad when he comes home and the radio in our bedroom*that he listens to when he goes to bed* is off because I umplug everything before I leave for school or work. Besides I'm paying the electric bill anyway lol.. Its good for you and the enviroment.
You can also switch to different light bulbs certain flourescent ones use less energy therefore saving you and the planet :O)

Wow, i knew about 1-4, but I never knew about 5. I have always had my cell phone charger plugged in and i have been putting my computer to sleep/standby a lot... Gee I never really realized that it sucks up a whole bunch of energy. THANKS!
I'm all for number 5.

Great blog, needs facts.
Can buy green energy too. Some companies allow you to specify where your power comes from.

GO ME----Plant A TREE !!!!!
Yes, I said it, don't bother. Nothing that we as Americans can do could possibly curb the "global warming" trend. For starters, we're all too lazy to change the way we live, and those of us that are willing to adopt a more environment-friendly life (not that I'm one of them) are severly outnumbered--not only in America, but across the globe. For example, China, the fastest growing industrial nation in the world, has "resisted calls for a cap even on emissions growth." China says that they are willing to cut greenhouse gas emmissions, but only if the U.S. adopts the plan as well. But since the U.S. isn't going to do anything about it, neither will China.
In addition, global warming isn't even our fault! Just read http://seoblackhat.com/2007/03/04/global-warming-on-mars-pluto-triton-and-jupiter/

Don't bother? I think you should reconsider your apathy.
Even if we are not the primary cause of global warming, you have to agree that we are having an impact on the Earth. Construction and deforestation lead to soil erosion; erosion leads to mud slides in some areas; mud slides lead to a loss of property and money. This is just one of thousands of possible examples. Physics tells us that every action has an equal and opposite reaction, so why do we continue to believe that our modern way of life has no impact on the Earth? Apathy and ignorance.
Even if a handful of people changing their lives does not affect the big picture immediately, perhaps by those people changing they will affect others that they know. Soon you have a snowball effect. One person affects two, two affect four, four affect eight, etc. This is why you should bother and this is why you should care. Be the change you wish to see in the world!!!
Perhaps the handful of us that care about being caretakers of the Earth will have no longterm effect, but our consciousness and the very fiber of our being drives us to try to make a differnce, to try to change the minds of others, to try and save our planet. Please, do bother. Do try to make your life "greener." There is no downside to this at all. Everyone benefits. We must take care of our planet - it's the only home we have.
I feel the biggest problem we have towards trying to curb Global Warming is people not caring. Often times, we hear the phrase, "Why should I change if does not make a difference? or, If Ichange there are a bunch of other people out there not changing, so how can my contribution help?"
I get really heated when I hear comments. These people are simply to lazy or apathetic to change their lifestyles. The changes are not even that drastic. We are not asking them to a ride a bicycle 40 miles to school. We are asking small changes that will not greatly change their lifestyles.
The "5 steps" above are very simple things to do. There are some other things people can do that will help:
1- turning off the water when you are not using it, while brushing youre teeth, washing your face, doing dishes or washing youre car. I live in California, and simply transporting the water from its source to my home uses a lot of energy. Energy from coal burning power plants which dump tons of CO2 into the atmosphere daily.
2- plant native plants and trees, if you have a yard. They will grow better and require less water and fertilizers. Fertilizers seep into ground water supplies and pollute them or they drain out to the ocean and pollute out there.
3- Plan youre driving days. Do not get into youre car every time you run errands. Plan youre trip so you get as much done in one day as possible. Also, if youre just going to the nearby grocery store, walk or ride a bike, and use a hand held cart to take youre groceries home. Carpool as much as possible.
Very to-the-point. I love that this blog wasn't rambling on and on. The fact that it's so to the point shows how easy it is to make a small impact on the environment.
Honestly, I don't give a lot of thought to the environment, but this shows that even the little things make a difference, so it makes even a skeptic like me say, "Heck, why not?" While unplugging unused chargers.
Thanks for the thought.
