Myspace: Age Limit.

If you're 47 with three kids, what do you do on Myspace?

Have a lot of friends, apparently.

If you're 47 with no kids, what do you do on Myspace?

I'm not sure.

My question is such: Should Myspace have an age limit?

Honestly, I know some wonderful people on Myspace who are older, married, ect. However, everyone seems to have a Myspace these days. I'm waiting for my Grandmum to call me and ask me to set one up for her.

Is it normal for adults, older adults, to have Myspace accounts? Does it pose a threat to gullible Susie, 14 CO; the little girl who trusts everyone?

I saw an ad today that said 52% of MySpace users are over the age of 35. I was surprised. An age limit would be awfully hard to enforce, as ways to get around answering DOB questions truthfully are so readily available.

Even accepting the implied premise that Susie shouldn't be having sex--(which not everyone might agree with; 14 is the age of consent in some countries), I'm not sure why an older user would be more of a "threat" than a younger one. If the user is honest about his age and appearance, he is probably unlikely to attract the amorous attentions of a young girl. If he lies about his age and appearance, that pretty much moots the point of an age limit. There is no way you can verify the age of 100,000,000+ users. The whole "dangerous Myspace" thing is a piece of media-driven hysterical nonsense anyway, so an age limit is a solution in search of a problem.

Because the only reason single, childless, 47-year-olds would be on Myspace, except for finding little kids to fuck?

Because 20-year-olds aren't dangerous? Wtf is that shit?

I know a lot of my friends put their age as over 35 as a joke (like 108, 69, 99, 56,) so most of the people who are allegedly over 35 probably are under 25

That's just asking for someone in the age ranges you mentioned to contact them. Not good!

I know adults who have myspaces. They are mostly younger acting adults that have them. I think if you're just using it to talk to younger people in your life even if you're older there is no problem with it. And there is really no way to have an age restriction. and what would happen when a user reaches that age? Are they kicked off? I dunno...there shouldn't be an age limit.

I have a lot of older friends that are on there to stay in touch with their kids who are either in different states or different countries. I don't see an age limit being imposed because Willie Nelson is on myspace, and then they'd have to kick him off. :(

you see,the beauty of the online world is, you can be whoever, and whatever you want to be. if Myspace came out with some age limit. You don't think that people would lie about thier age? I Mean, I joined myspace when I was 14, and back then they had an age limit that you had to be at least 15(maybe 16, I'm not sure) and I just changed my birth year so that I could have one. Preditors know how to manipulate things, otherwise they wouldn't be very good at what they do. I just think that "susie, 14 CO"s parent's should take more responcilbility for her. To moniter what she does online, maybe not forbid her from having a Myspace, because once again 14yr olds know how to lie, but that they get an account, and check her friends lists every now and then. Have her put her profile on private so that only her friends can see it and require that she only have people on her friends list that she met in real life first. If parents explained the dangers, and convinced their kids they should be meeting people in real life, then talking to them online, that might have a better result.

how old do you consider old? I am 29 with two kids. Do you think I'm too old to have myspace?...lol.....PLEASE say no.....I love it, I have found so many people I went to school with. we all now live all over and this is an easy way to keep in touch, and see eachothers kids.

my aunt just recently got a myspace page and she's 41, married with a 7 year old and she wouldnt hurt anybody. if youre really that terrified of someone, dont add them as a friend when they send you a friend request. my cousins are on there and i use it to talk to them since calling them would be long distance charges( they live 3 hours away) and i dont get to talk or see them that much.
