What It Takes To Have A Better Future In America

Tagged:  •

As a college student, I have no choice, but to voice my opinion of the government and if I think that the president is doing his job. Why, because it affects me, my education and my future. And, I strongly believe that we are in great need of a better leader. Are economy is so messed up right now. I mean I have been without a job for 2 years now and I am fed up with it. The gas prices are soaring at $3.68 at the pump. Not, to mention the cost of food and housing. I believe that we are in a depression right now. The president likes to use that word recession as a cover up. And, I think that the govenment should stop wasting money on building a wall to keep the mexicans from coming in or out. The mexican immigrants are already here, I do not see how building a wall will keep them from crawling over it or digging tunnels under it. We need a president who will stand up for womens rights and diversity. We need a president who will help small businesses grow so that the factory workers can feed their families. And, we need a president who will bring jobs back to the U.S. Because, I think that it's time that we all can afford to put feed on the table. My name is Zachary Stewart and I support this message.

Hello Zachary Stewart.

I was a little confused in the beginning because it seemed like you said you think the Pres is doing his job, but then went on to say that he isn't. I just misread, that's all.

I do think we're in a depression/recession...whatever you want the technical term to be. I said we're in a depression, but drifterdani6886 pointed out that a depression would be much worse. We're simply in the beginning stages, so I hope we can pull out before we actually get to a full-blown depression.

Mind Control is Easier Than You Think

HMMM , i always giggle when people blame things on our president. People seem to forget that everything he does has to be approived by congress...
you can not blame everythign on him either, he does not controll the cost of oil, the people who sell it to our contry do,and then the people who buy it, have to make a profit, so they jack up the prices, same with our food cost as well. I don't know what to tell ya aboutt he job factor though. Anyways back t our president. If you look back into history, every president has done something equally bad, if not worse than Bush.
here are some facts for you.
*There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.

In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the

month of January. That's just one American City ,

about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq

*a. FDR led us into World War II.

b. Germany never attacked us; Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ...

an average of 112,500 per year.
*c. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea

North Korea never attacked us .

From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ...

an average of 18,334 per year.

*d. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.

Vietnam never attacked us.
*e. Johnson turned Vietn am into a quagmire.

From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ..

an average of 5,800 per year.

*f. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.

Bosnia never attacked us.

He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three

times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on

multiple occasions.

*g. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush

has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida,

put nuclear inspectors in Libya , Iran , and, North Korea without firing a shot,

and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking.

But Wait

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno

to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

I agree with most of what your first paragraph said.

My question is, why are all your examples of bad leaders/Presidents Democrats?

I'm lukewarmly supportive of Bush, though I'm quite ready for a change of scenery in the Whitehouse.

Gas prices are tough, but we still have some of the cheapest gas in the world. Americans have been a little bit spoiled and took our cheap gas for granted. You want real pain at the pump? Go to the Netherlands.

I'll agree that the economy is in the pits. But we're in no depression. In fact, we're still not yet technically in a recession. A recession is when the economy's growth rate drops below the previous quarter's (that is, when the growth rate becomes negative.) Last fiscal quarter, the growth rate was 0.5%. Very, very low, but still not negative, and so still not technically a recession. I'm pretty sure it will get there, and we'll all feel the squeeze then.

I don't like walls. All of history's walls have failed: the Great Wall of China, the Maginot Line, the Berlin Wall. I may be biased, as my dad was an illegal immigrant from Greece. Just an interesting side note: my dad fully supports the wall and blocking illegals from entering the country.

I think, as a general rule, the President, as the most powerful person in the country and quite possibly the world, gets blamed for things he really can't control. It's just part of the job. Leave President Bush's legacy to history to decide.
