This year I made the decision to not go out for my school's cheerleading squad. I fight with myself everyday on whether this was the right decision or not. I miss the good feeling of being physically fit and active, but I do not miss the drama. I miss having a group of girls who were your best friends through any rough time, but I do not miss when they all turn their backs on you. I miss being on a team, but I do not miss fighting because someone else was picked as captain. I miss being in front of a crowd and encouraging them to cheer for our team, but I do not miss having pop cans, tampons, or fruit thrown at us. This has been an internal struggle since I walked through my high school's front doors as an ever powerful senior this year and I'm ready to put it at rest. My personal motto is: Everything happens for a reason. So not being a part of something that fills a small spot in my heart, must have a really good reason that will make itself clear down the road. Who knows, maybe I'll like tennis better?
Hello Cheerleading, I miss you.
