Senator Obama used the words typical white person.
Senator Obama used the three words. In context or out of context, the use of these words yesterday was given a pass by the main stream press.( MSM) From a Black man and Presidential Candidate this is a racially charged statement.
If John McCain or Hillary Clinton had said this all hell would have broken loose.
Rest in Peace refuses to use these charged words:
Typical White person,
Typical Black person.

Why does Senator Obama get away with divisiveness? He is not the candidate of Unity and Change!
Rest in peace is an old newspaperman. It is wrong to call anyone: typical anything.
This is the opinion of "Rest in Peace" Your Funeral Guy, R Brian Burkhardt, Funeral Director! Senator Obama needs to stop word games. This is no way for anyone in the Presidential Election 2008 to behave. Someone needs to throw the book at Obama!.

I couldn't agree with you more. Every word he says will be heavily scrutinized and put weight on both his personality and campaign. If everyone else can't get away with it then why should he. God forbid Hillary should say "Typical Black person", whoa, will there be drama.

however as a presidential candidate and human being it should not be said in any context. It shows Obama's lack of sound judgment.
1) Can I get a link to the speech.
2) In context, it is exactly the right thing to say. If he said that his grandmother said things like that and was using this to make a point, then there is nothing at all wrong with the statement.

But I maintain if he is the great "bring us together guy"...he does not have to use racially dividing words!
Did you listen to it? Or did you just read it? If you listen to it, he's clearly searching for the right word to use and you can tell he's not really comfortable with the way he phrased it. I mean, big deal, he said something a little awkwardly that, as a result, can be misconstrued as racism.
It clearly isn't racism, though.

It isn't racist!
He talked about people who both suffered from deep-seated resentments or fear of other races, but worked to overcome that and succeeded most of the time.

his name or anything..
20 years of being associated with the Rev. Wright is quite sad for a Presidential Candidate really. If you hang out with the wrong folks you get into trouble. It is poor judgment.
I dislike his unwillingness to declare who he is . It is too sly of a political a trick and quite common trick here in Chicago land. It is not change but old school politics.
And people blindly following his words is a sad commentary on our educational system.
Well you certainly seem to have issues with his name since you can't talk about him without bringing it up in a negative way...
I used to go to synagogue on the high holidays a lot. Sometimes, the rabbi or another speaker would say something I strongly disagreed with. That doesn't mean that I'm never coming back. A religious institution is often times a type of community center. Why should someone leave because of a few angry outbursts when you have strong ties to the community?

tried to unfairly make a direct connection of OBAMA to Rev.Wright's early political activism.
It is different here.
I bring up Wright's political action of last summer, not 1984. This was while Obama was running for President. I say the 1st degree of separation is an indirect lack of judgment.
It is still lack of judgment.
There is a strong case for direct lack of judgment.
But the folks here are may not be intellectually honest enough to consider it . I will leave it to others to bring this up.
I point out indirect lack of judgment
.
Hanging out with the wrong folks is arguably direct misjudgment!
I would like you to watch the ENTIRE sermon Rev. Wright gave before you make "snap" judgements about Obama's judgement.
Because if you feel that Obama's judgement was wrong in remaining somewhat loyal to Rev. Wright, then you must be refering to his political judgement. Idealy/Morally Rev. Wright spoke the truth, allbeit a difficult truth to swallow by some Americans, it was a truthful sermon....
I have written a new blog on the subject, and it includes the FULL sermon, in which Rev. Wright declares that America's chickens have come home to roost.

Anyone with this kind of associations does not have the judgment or discernment to be the leader of anything. Let alone the leader of the most powerful nation on earth.
what about the innocent iraqis that die every day as a result of american foriegn policy.......
Also have you ever thought about thinking outside of the box...the United states is notorious for using propaganda as all countries have (terrorist, al-quieda, Bin-Ladin). Could it be that certain middle eastern leaders are spreading policy that goes against the US's, like self reliance, and unity of all middle eastern states. The United states does not want the middle east to be a stable peaceful region. then they would have to pay full price for oil instead of getting it dirt cheap from poor countries at war then refining it and selling it for $3.25 a gallon. Isnt it ironic that we are at war seemingly for oil and they are the only people making money in todays economy......
last year the oil industry had the largest government subsides, and made over 400 billion in PROFIT!

Yes terrorism is wrong. But you admitted that the only groups that ever really do anything for the Palestinian people also perform acts of terrorism. I support Israel, but it isn't all black and white. Israel has done a lot of stuff that is extreme and over the top. Putting Israel there in the first place wasn't the best idea and the settlement-style colonization of the West Bank and Gaza didn't do anything to ease tensions. This cannot be denied!
The judge of men. Which emotion is greater HOPE or FEAR.
I say this because I see something special in the eyes of Obama when he speaks. He really believes what he is saying. Something that cannot be said about many politicians.
Hitler also believed in what he said. That is precisely why his words were so powerful. The difference is that Hitler preached HATE, which he followed through with.
Obama preaches HOPE. Which upon being elected President he will be sure to follow through with. Also lets not forget all the controversy that was just squashed by Obama's race relations speech. What other person in America (white or black) could have delivered that message on national television so sucessfully.

Twinkle in their eye!
Do we choose a Prez on words and a twinkle iin the eye!
I Know hundreds who could have delivered that speech!
Hitler did not always preach hate. He preached HOPE for Germany!
If you preach ANY form of hate, then there can be no HOPE.
The "twinkle in the eye" as I put it was to highlight the fact that Obama REALLY PERSONALLY believes what he is saying.
There were times during the election of 2000, when Bush couldnt prenounce what he was saying, let alone understand what the word meant.
Most politicians believe what their constituants believe in order to recieve votes.
Obama has resonated with constituents because his WORDS are seemingly being taken out of a large amount of American's mouths before they can say it. I.E. he is the closest to an everyday American than any of the other candidates. He relates to the everyday man in a way that a person who has spent the last 20 years in Washington cannot.

If you had made the assertion that he openly opposed the war I would not have corrected you.
But you made the assertion that he voted against the war and that is not a matter of semantics but rather a mistatement of the facts.
There are actually quite a few politicians that were in both the House and the Senate who did or at least now claim they opposed the war but who apparently lacked the courage of their convictions and ended up voting in favor of it. Because Obama was not in the Senate at the time we will never know how he might have actually voted. Would he have been one of the courageous few who voted their convictions or would he have been one of those who went with the political flow and voted the will of the majority of the American people at that time? We'll never know because he never had to make that choice.

In Fact he deceived voters because from the beginning he did not declare. his relationship to the hate Speech of Rev Wright nut, but instead presented himself as the great unifier. This is deceit on massive scale.
The issue isn't his name, but I wasn't the one who brought it up. Obama detractors seem to love calling him Barack Hussien Obama as if to imply, somehow, a connection to Saddam. It's ridiculous.
And he did talk about Wright towards the beginning of his campaign, saying that he disagreed with the views espoused in those comments. No one really knew about it though at that point, so it wasn't a big deal.

You are exactly right! However, we are "typical white people" and probably don't have a "trained ear" to have heard exactly what it was he meant. ;)
when Obama used the term "typical white person", he was refering to the fact that the "typical white person" lives outside of the black community therefore cannot understand certain aspects of the "black experience"........I find it interesting that in an interview Obama gave to further explain his speech on bringing America together racially, its those same "typical white people" who choose to take pieces of his statements in an attempt to keep America divided.
