It's the dream of most American parents that their child goes to University and graduates with a degree. It's the dream that they recieve great grades, and leave with a great job. It's their dream that they step onto campus every single day - safetly- and return home unharmed. This week it's hard to do that at any university, as all our worlds were turned upside down on Monday.
I have heard a lot of students in teh past few days contemplate what it really means to be here- at FSU (or any University for that matter).
The fact of the matter is, we are not just here to get good grades. We're not just here to learn valued information to apply to a specific task. We're not just here to gain a degree. Students are now here, at universities, to gain important, and vital skills for everyday living.
We need to learn to communicate; not just with ourselves, but to communicate with students around us. We need to learn to look out for each other- as no one should go unnoticed. We need to learn, that this IS the real world- people get hurt.
Being a student is an amazing experience, the world is really at our fingertips. Yet, so many of us let those experiences pass by. Join an organization, Take on an issue. Step out of your box. Now is the time to do SOMETHING- anything - because you never know what tomorrow might bring.
Keep VT in your prayers, and in your hearts.

Such a sad occurence. Can you believe that this was actually worse than Columbine? I can only hope the survivors can cope with all this turmoil and crazy news coverage.
