Is Money Really Worth it?

s money really worth it?

The extent that people go to in order to win money is ludicrous. I know there are shows out there that people win, or earn money, based on their knowledge, studying, etc, but some shows are just outright ridiculous.

Has anyone seen the show “The Moment of Truth” on TV? The show where an individual is hooked up to a lie detector test and the higher the amount of money goes up the more intense the questions are. First of all, the person is usually not a single individual which means someone else’s feelings are typically involved. What is wrong with people that they’re willing to hurt someone else to great extent in order to win $25,000, $100,000 or a chance at a million dollars?

Shows like Jeopardy and Cash Cab are fine because people are gaining money based on their knowledge so they deserve to win. Nobody is getting hurt; nobody is losing something large in their life, etc.

Other shows subject themselves to embarrassment such as “I Bet You Will” on MTV where individuals get paid cash for doing stupid idiotic tasks. I’ve seen a girl, a GIRL, shave her head, mix it with butter, and eat a bowl full of it. Is that honestly worth the $200 she was given for it? No, not to mention it’s dangerous to have that amount of hair get into your stomach because it doesn’t all digest and it just sits in there.

Why’s money such a big issue? Gaining status for doing something outright stupid isn’t worth it, nor is anyone going to think you’re “cool” when you have $100,000 but realize how horrible of a person you after seeing you on “A Moment of Truth”

"Money makes the world go round..."

What if the world was based on trade instead? Not of bills and coins, but of anything. Since there would be no official currency, there'd be nothing to obsess over, right?
