Animal rights campaigners in Germany have called on Berlin's Zoo to kill a baby polar bear that has been rejected by its mother rather than have it raised by humans.
The three-month-old polar bear cub has captured the hearts of many Germans, baby Knut and his twin brother were born in December.
They were rejected by their mother and were left exposed to freezing temperatures.
After Knut's brother died, the zoo intervened to save the surviving cub.
Knut has been nurtured by a keeper who has slept by his side and bottle-fed him.
Now animal rights campaigners argue Knut should be put down to stop him becoming emotionally and physically reliant on humans.
That has sparked outrage in Germany and Berlin Zoo has vowed to continue hand-rearing the cub.
"If a polar bear mother rejected the baby, then I believe the zoo must follow the instincts of nature," Albrecht said. "In the wild, it would have been left to die."
Do you guys think they should kill it? I think that even though it might not be the best to be raised by humans it is better than letting it die. Besides, it's so cute! Check out the picture link!

Sometimes activisits really make me angry. Okay, so maybe this polar bear will become attached to humans. So what?
It's not like it matters in the long-run. It could still reproduce, either naturally or by science. Plus there aren't that many polar bears in the world, they are on and off endangered species lists. You would think they would be happy the population is up with this new cub...

I blogged about the same thing. I think its disgusting that these so called animal rights activists want to kill an innocent baby. is it the bears fault that he was raised by people? What about his right to live? and i agree, he is adorable.

How idiotic. How is being hand-fed harmful to him? Perhaps we should release all animals from zoos and put them back in their natural habitat to become extinct, stop trying to save endangered species, etc, because that's how it goes in NATURE.
