Fox vs. NBC 2008

With a constant war between Fox News and NBC, coupled with other problems,CAN or WILL the 2008 elections be FAIRLY covered? I sometimes like to tune into the Bill O'Rielly Show, and Hannity & Colmes. Pause. Not because I am a fan of thier message, but because I like to hear the other side of certain views that I believe are important. I also occationally tune into Countdown with Keith Olberman. I also can honestly say that i am not necissarily a fan of his message either. That brings me back to the original question. With these radical talkshow hosts leading the charge against each other, and the democratic process, when do we have time for legitimate political discussion?
This year among all the candidates I am most drawn to Barack Obama. With that said, though i have not yet officially made my decision, I tend to get tired of the same stories these two networks choose to run with. Fox News, which is owned by parent company News Corp (Rupert Murdock), is almost unbearable to watch. (excluding comedian Bill O'Rielly...LOL) How can a NEWS network that has clearly been riding the conservative bandwagon since 2000 claim that a presidential candidate is not conservative enough( Comments on John Mcain). Who do they think they are? In todays media there are no-longer unbiased reporters that stick to the facts. It seems that now Fox News is the Republican National Committee. Not to mention the fact that most of thier TELEVISION hosts have the political experience of say STEPHEN COLBERT. Atleast Mr. Colbert knows what he's doin is a joke.
On the other hand NBC Networks are not just innocent victims being bullied during recess. NBC has chosen to also preach to America rather than report. In between taking continuous shots at Fox, the people over at MSNBC recycle story after story. BARACK this, HILLARY that. What was HILLARY crying about this time? I want to hear about policies! I want each candidate to step foward and state their positions. I've had enough rally cries. Another problem I have with NBC is what I call the "money effect". Unless you are at the upper echelon of campaign funds you are effectively told to "pack it up, YOU DONT BELONG". Though I am supporting Obama, a candidate i was intrigued about was Republican/Libertarian Ron Paul, who recieved no national coverage, and was even told that he would not be allowed to debate a few months ago (Paul has consistantly gotten about 5% of the republican vote so far). Now Fox is also guilty of this. Remember in late October when you first heard of Gov. Mike Huckabee. It was when he reportedly raised $5-10 million that month, via internet contributions.
This is rediculous. A network decides who can debate. A network decides where they stand, in order to put their favorite directly in camera view. The public is only allowed to hear OF a candidate once his bankroll is large enough. What about what the candidate has to say. What about his views. I would like to hear more about where the candidates come from, what college they went to, what were their parents proffession. Who are they REALLY.

Fearing that I am rambling, I will just say this. I believe that I speak for a large population of the national public when I say, We dont care what YOU think FOX NEWS/NBC. Your job is to report on what the real world is doing, not to create your own world where we have the Fox News and NBC political parties. I believe that we are teetering on a slippery slope in 2008. This is the most important election year since 1964. Power and money goes hand-in-hand. So as the working public we must realize that Rupert Merdock and General Electric(owns NBC) have no intentions of reporting the NEWS. They must keep the system as it is, with them in power. We as Americans must take heed to the Declaration of Independence & The Constitution of our own United States. This country was built on the basis of change. We as Americans have the RIGHT to say that our current system is broken, and that we will change it through the democratic process. I feel that in 2008 with the current presidential candidates, that is what America is doing. NBC & Fox you'll just have to get used to it.

The media has, and always will be, slanted and bias. So long as people tell the truth, there will be 200 versions of the truth all just as true as the last.

i know that is the point.......untill someone says "the buck" /truth stops here there is no NEWS just opinions

You claim that Fox and NBC are just spreading their own views...well yes, to an extent. You cite shows like Bill O'Reilly, and Hannity and Colmes. Well Bill O'Reilly DOES give his opinion, it's the basis of his show, and Hannity and Colmes, is supposed to be opposing viewpoints. Those aren't "news" shows, they're for ratings. Why hate on someone for giving their honest opinions?

do you know what bill o'rielly says as his show is ending...........BLAH BLAH BLAH minus the spin.....

he is implying that his views and opinions are his, and that there is no underlying motivation behind what he says. we all know that this is wrong. if bill o'rielly became a democrat he would be fired immediately. no-one on FOX gives THEIR OPINIONS OR REAL NEWS.

EVERYTHING IS RUN BY NEWS CORP. RUPERT MURDOCK.

The opinions and viewpoints expressed by O'Reilly ARE his.

"if bill o'rielly became a democrat he would be fired immediately."
No that's actually not true. First, that's implying that Bill is a Republican, which he is not. He's a registered independent. He may be conservative, but that doesn't make him a Republican. If Fox fired all the democrats they employed, they would be firing alot of people. Fox News employs democrats, look at Alan Colmes, so your argument essentially...is wrong.

"EVERYTHING IS RUN BY NEWS CORP. RUPERT MURDOCK."
Once again, not true. Murdock simply owns Fox, it's not like he's there, behind-the-scenes calling all the shots. It's financially viable for him.

Colmes is used as a punching bag for Sean Hannity. He is simply there so that people like yourself can say "Hey, Fox employs democrats."

Also the statement that you made about Bill O'Rielly was mileading. i did not say that he was a republican. CHECK THE COMMENT. WORD FOR WORD.

I simply said that if he were to become a democrat, that he would be fired. just because a person is not currently a democrat does not mean that they are a republican. You said it yourself.
