So, I got one comment from a good friend. Not bad, but I want more. I will lure you with this question.
What do you feel would be the most beneficial for your own personal future?
This could be college, marriage, getting a job right off the bat. I am a high school student currently, so I am looking for young people's answers. I believe the most beneficial thing for me right now is getting involved in a local theater and going to college. I am interested in music and acting and putting those two together. Ah, but you say how can musical theater make money? Thats not what it is about for me, but, since you asked, I will tell. If I work my tail off (hence the "American Dream") I can accomplish my goals. One of my goals is to be on Broadway. (and meet Johnny Depp) So, I guess my answer to my question would be college and career. I can work while I am going to college, right? People do it all the time. Now I want to know your answer. I care to hear. I'm sure you care to share... hey! I rhymed! Anyway, also, if you want to add advice, I'm a great advice taker.
Looking to God for all I am,
Megan

Why hello there. Honestly, and this is my opinion, I feel that college after high school would be beneficial for everyone. There are loads of colleges out there and they are all different. But what I'm trying to say, is that it is good to be educated. Going to college even if it is for theater is educational. Since you're still in high school you still have time to figure out what you want to do with your life. Music and acting can always be hobbies or minors, even majors too at certain colleges. It's all up to you with what you do after high school.
I think the most beneficial thing for myself to do after I graduate (next year!) would be college. I know a part time job would always be good too... but my main focus and goal right now is to go to college.
Marriage straight out of high school is stupid and is never a good idea. Getting a job and blowing off college is also a bad idea. Unless you'd rather work at Walmart or some gas station for the rest of your life, I suggest you go to college. Good jobs require college degrees.
Not everyone on this site is in high school.
The most beneficial thing for me would be getting into medical school. Can't be a doctor without first going to medical school.

Check out the latest entry in the Between The Lines column!
If you don't know the results of every single marriage right out of high school, then you can't say that it's never a good idea.
I'd beg to differ.

Btw, just to clarify things, I wasn't talking to you in my comment. I was just commenting on what you said.
Well, I'm in my 40's, and living proof that not going to college limits your options. Did pretty well after high school. Peaked earnings wise in my mid 30's. Friends that went to college that I out-earned early on passed me like I was standing still. No regrets though. Great kids, great wife, steady work. My advice, stick with it, get a degree, even if it's in underwater basket weaving. That piece of paper means a lot in the job market.
Most of all, don't be a slave to career. Love God, love yourself and love others. Do your best, but go with the flow and don't stress out if it doesn't work out like you expected. God has a plan!
Just for the record, when I grow up I want to be a computer programmer!
