Progress, oh yes good old fashion progress, yes sir-ee-bob progress. Progress. Hmm…?

Progress is making your situation better everyday. It’s about working hard everyday to shape your world into something you want it to become.

For example if one were suffering in a class and they improved their grade; that would be an example of progress. Progress and social mobility are some of things that make America the Greatest Nation in the History of the World. These things allow the immigrants with nothing to find work and save some money. Then their children get the education they didn’t and can find even better jobs. Then those children have children of their own and this third generation works even harder and goes to college. And so on and so on. Those with nothing improve their ranking and increase their standard of living. Progress can also be applied to politics *GASP*!

Take the modern conservative movement for example. In the 1950s it seemed absolutely plausible that government would continue to grow at an expediential rate. Some people felt this was wrong, as a matter many people felt this was wrong and that government size needed to be controlled. The presidential election of 1964 gave Americans the first view of a conservative. Goldwater lost but he still pushed the movement into the mainstream. Then in 1980 a conservative was elected president. Today conservatism strikes fear into the hearts of liberals, progressives, commies, and socialists everywhere, with its domination of the air waves, Fox News, and massive grass root support.

That’s progress! A little bit everyday to one day make the situation what you want it to be.

That was a pretty good definition of progress. I like how you point out that little things can be progress, like doing better in school. Good entry.
