A recent news article talks of Al Gore's possible run for President after he returns from the Nobel Peace Prize event in Oslo, Norway. His few die-hard supporters (including 1,100 in California), say that if he receives the Nobel Prize that he will have an obligation to run for President. The Presidential field is already too crowded, and I think that the Democrats have a nice selection of candidates to choose from. The former vice president lost in 2000 (although not in the popular election), but he only needs 12,396 signatures, and his consent, to get on the ballot in Michigan, and 5,000 signatures in New York; this could cause him to declare a national campaign. I think that if Gore does join, he will stop the excitement that the Democrats have used as an edge over the Republicans. I think we should "move to close nominations" in this Presidential election. He wouldn't make a good President anyway...

He isn't running. Even if he does, he would be well behind in terms of fundraising. In the US, if you want to win an election, you need to be the top fundraiser. Since 1972, the one with the most money raised won their party's nomination.
If he could raise the money, though, he would be a threat.
With the hype surrounding his Nobel Peace Prize and "The Inconvenient Truth" he wouldn't have a huge problem fund raising.

Someone ought to tell him that he wouldn't make a good president.
