Hey everyone! So i am new to this blogging site, i found it while i was searching for scholarships online, and i saw theres a chance to win money after a period of time Initally that is what attracted my attention, but i think this is a cool way for people to discuss important issues.
So heres the thing thats bothering me most lately:
Im a high school senior, and everyone i know is either waiting to hear from his or her colleges or trying to decide where to go. The day i got accepted into UCONN i was thrilled- until i recieved my financial aid. My dad is unemployed as of January, and we dont have a lot of money. I didnt recieve a very good package, and now am not sure if i will be able to attend UConn. It makes me furious because the financial aid system cant even take my dads unemployment into account until next year. Its hard to accept the fact that money truly makes the world go round, and yes dreams are achieveable, but often limited or made harder by financial issues.
Also, I have quite a few friends, mostly average students, but all of which have played sports , have jobs, take honors classes, and have taken an interest in getting involved in school activities. These friends are waiting to hear from their own top school: UNH. Each of them were sent a letter notifying them of their deferral and asking for midterm grades. However, one of my other friends, who also applied to UNH, is in the bottom half of our school's ranks, has never played a sport, never taken an honors class, had a single job, done any community service or gotten involved in anything what so ever was just accepted. The thing is, and i am no racist,( i actually dated this guy), he's asian. It isnt fair the way reverse discrimination takes away the oppurtunities of those who deserve the spot at UNH or any where for that matter.
Anyway, these issues have just been controlling my thoughts lately, it feels good to get it out!!

It's nice to meet you and welcome!
I'm very happy that you decided to talk about an issue in your introduction post. However, I encourage you to pick a title that reflects most of the body of your blog, especially in this case. Chances are, this post is going to get skipped over quite a lot simply because it is titled 'new blogger', and sounds like it would be the typical introduction post.
Welcome to the site, and sorry for your friends' college woes.
