Today in class, I heard about how people are scoping out the poor to be tortured. That is really horrible. What is wrong with people today? Don't they feel sorry for those that aren't as privileged as them? The poor don't have food, clothing, or shelter already, and they have to suffer because of some stupid, ignorant kids. There was a time when some kids made their own video on youtube, and they literally showed every move that they made on a homeless person, beating him up, and saying, do you see his face? They have sick and twisted minds, thinking it was funny to see someone bruised. The poor needs to be helped, they are normal people just like we are, only that they have lost hope of ever living in the normal luxuries that we have today. They have become the depressed, talking to themselves, digging through garbage for food, going to shelters in which some don't even accept them, and doing drugs. These poor need to have places to go to where they can be aided, and I hope there's more shelters out there that would fit these different types of homeless people, these being: Marginality homeless (people who live in crowded spaces with friends and family members who don't live on the streets but use shelter services, the recently homeless (people who have not have homes for less than a year), and thchronically homeless (those who haven't lived in homes over a year and start substance abuse, etc.).

What do you suppose we ought to do then?
I understand that homelessness is a problem prevalent in our society; however, we, as the good citizens of our nation, seem to be deadlocked in this situation, in where any of our actions to help the homeless may actually 'enable' them.
perhaps the government should look into those shelters and homes that you speak of and make sure that they are functioning properly so that the homeless can be taken care of. but why would the government want to do that? they see it as just spoiling them. proclaiming that it is fine to be homeless because the State has your backs. the state will only help those who are productive citizens in society.
do you propose that we give them jobs?
but then what about the already unemployed? do we keep them waiting in line? or do we extend that line with the homeless? who gets first pick? those with homes but without jobs or those without homes and without jobs
and what about the immigrant workers? do we know send them home because we found people to do the work that we dont want to? that would solve immigration issues, but immigrants seem to be more skilled at what they do than the homeless we have here at 'home'.
this issue is very hard and yet, very easy to answer.
one of the morals of jesus' parable tells us that : God helps those who help themselves; furthermore, an uknown source once said, " Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime"
education is key. knowledge is power!
Government should pass some laws that would stop people from abusing the poor, like beating them up on the streets, and ban them from putting these horrible videos on the internet is a good start.....
