Find your state, and I encourage everyone who can to get a concealed carry permit. Always better to have one and not need one, than to need one and not have one.
For those of you who are uncomfortable with firearms, have never fired one, or are just plain afraid of them, I recommend you search the internet for a Hunting Safety course. Most states require them for kids before they're allowed to go hunting, and it is a good beginners course for anyone who doesn't know much about firearms.
Also, look for local gun ranges, especially if they are connected to a gun shop. These places often have beginner education courses for firearms.
You don't need to love firearms. You don't need to like firearms, or even want them in YOUR home. But please understand that firearms in the hands of responsible citizens has a proven history of saving lives, lowering crime and keeping neighborhoods safe. You don't HAVE to have one, but please don't support any legislation that would take away MY ability to have one.
