CHOOSE LIFE
Monday, January 22, 2007, will be the 34th anniversary of the day that abortion was made legal in the United States. This is the most tragic day in all of American History because this made legal the killing of innocent children. Since then, more than 40 million babies have been killed legally.
Now think about it. Think really hard.
Have you thought about it? I hope so.
The simple fact is: Abortion is murder. No matter what you may believe or think, that is the truth. A fact. It is not an opinion. There are so many excuses that people make to rationalize abortion as something that is right. Some of these excuses may be "well the woman has the right to choose. Her body, her choice". But the mother does not have that right. There is another body living inside of her. Does she have that right to take that baby's life away? No. Only God alone has that choice. Her body is God's property; a temple of the Holy Spirit, and the baby is not her property at all. God chose to put that baby inside of her and the mother has no right whatsoever to take that life away, just like a mother has no right to kill her child outside of the womb. Also, do you really think that a baby is any less human inside the womb than it is outside? Just because a person is not completely developed inside the womb does not mean that the child is not human. It's all part of the growth process, just like an infant who turns into a toddler, and so on. It's the exact same concept.
Another excuse many people make is "Well, if the mother's life is in jeopardy, then abortion is okay". Wrong again. The child has just as much right to life as the mother does, they are just at different points in their life. Each is a human being and each deserves a chance to live. Just because the mother may have a family and husband to take care of, a good job, ect, does not mean she should have an abortion. The baby has not had a chance to make a life of its own and it should not be taken away. God is the one to take care of that. He does not want anyone to kill the gift that he has given. He wants us to trust him and know that whatever life he chooses to take, that is his choice, not ours. And many times, He doesn't take either life, even if the doctors say one of them will die.
The last example I'm going to use is when a teenager or single person thinks that abortion is their only option. That is not true. There are other options, such as adoption and people who can help. There are SO many people that want to help, and if you are in this situation, please do not be afraid. There are many centers you can go to that want to help you in your time of need. God will also give you strength, and if you choose life, you will be blessed so much, and it may be tough, but I promise you, you will not regret it.
But not only does abortion kill an innocent human being, it also leaves severe emotional scars and many times physical effects on the woman. Abortion can cause Post Abortion Syndrome, Breast Cancer, Infertility, ect. I cannot even begin to explain how much it hurts the woman. These examples are only the tip of the iceberg.
I have a friend who recently had a baby. She is my age and she doesn't have much. But she chose life, and she had a beautiful and healthy baby boy. Even though she didn't exactly want a child right now, and even thought it is going to be very difficult, she knows that she will not regret it. I just went to visit her yesterday, and I had the opportunity to hold her child in my arms. It was a wonderful experience. The baby was so beautiful and so innocent. There are no words to describe how amazing it felt. Just holding him helped me want to get more involved in the pro-life movement.
So if you believe that abortion should be legal, or if you are thinking of having an abortion, or even if you take it lightly and could care less, think again. Look at the people around you. Think about the people who have truly made a difference in your life. What if their mothers would have chosen to abort them? They wouldn't be here. And think about all the difference many of those children could have made in our world today. What if we would have had a cure for the incurable diseases, such as AIDS? There are countless examples that I could give you, but for now, I'm going to leave you with that.
God Bless You, and please pray for the end to abortion.
If you are pregnant and do not know what to do, a wonderful website to go to for help is http://catholicsrespectlife.org/.

I think we can all agree that abortion is bad. However, passing a law dictating what a woman can and can not do to her body is a really bad idea because it sets a dangerous precedent.
If you want to stop abortion, perhaps educating people on how to have safe sex would be a good idea. Abstinence-only education fails miserably: the only result of teaching abstinence-only education is a higher rate of pregnancy and STDs. Abstinence should be taught alongside traditional sex ed.
Another good method of stopping abortion would be implementing better social support services, and by that I mean actual counselors and social workers, not a priest telling you how bad you are for not wanting the baby.
There are plenty of ways to stop abortion. But passing a law that tells a woman what she is and isn't allowed to do to her body is a terrible, terrible idea.
(if you can't see the fnords they won't eat you)
Alright...let's start with the "Her body is Gods property" Well, I'm an athiest. So what now? I don't believe in God, so are you telling me that since YOUR god owns me I can't have an abortion?(I'm not pregnant, I'm just proving a point.) I went to a christian school till my fourth grade year, so I am educated in the religion, and yet I still do not believe it. And if god is so damn almighty, why is he, as you say "God chose to put that baby inside of her" giving women babies that don't have any business raising them? ESPECIALLY while there are all those children in third world countries STARVING TO DEATH! If god can kill all the first born children in eygpt, and send plagues, and give teenagers and women who don't want kids babies, why can't he do some god damn good? I don't believe in god, and if he does exsist he can stick it for all the pain he causes us all.
And yeah, if the mothers life is in jepordy, she's just supposed to die? Who are you to choose which life is more valuable? Who is the public to tell these women they can't have abortions. Getting pregnant is a very eye opening experience. To have life growing inside of you gives you a really big reality check, and I think that these women that choose to have abortions have every right to make that choice.
So are we supposed to fill up those orphanages with 4 million more kids?!? Make them suffer from lack of staff and money for orphanages, and make the ones there suffer more than they already have?! Your outrageous.
This just makes me so upset...You or no one else on this earth have the right to say who is more important: the mother or the baby. That IS the mothers choice for all the reasons I've said.
Oh, and another thing...I hope that YOU REALIZE that if abortions are outlawed, women are going to resort to more dangerous and awful ways of terminating their pregnancies. The end result of this is THEY WILL BOTH DIE. So I hope YOU thought HARD about what you were saying.
Exodus 11:4 So moses said, "This is what the Lord says: 'About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the slave girl, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well."
Looks to me like your god is not Pro-Life.
I know I may get many comments from this blog, considering I only posted it a couple days ago, so I'm just going to reply to all of these comments at once.
First, since you, crystalshardz89, are an atheist, there is no sense in me trying to convince you of anything because (obviously) you are not going to listen to me. But whether you want to believe that there is a God or not, there is one, and that is a fact. He is not "my" God. He is our God, the God of the universe, and the one who created both you and me and everything you could ever think of. Look around you, look at all the beautiful and wonderful blessings that we recieve. I know there is a lot of bad in the world, but there is also so much good, and the good is used to get rid of the bad, and many times something bad will happen and good will be brought out of it.
And I never said I was the boss, I was merely stating the facts. God is the Boss, he made the law, in the 5th commandment: "Do not kill". And the fact is that abortion is murder. period. No matter what kind of means a woman MAY go through to kill her child in the womb, should killing a human being be legal? I think not. People who murder other people get charged for murder and are either in jail for all of their life or are given the death penalty. THE BABY IS A HUMAN TOO, JUST LIKE YOU. And the killing of a human person is never right or a right, no matter what the situation. That baby has as many rights as you and me, because they are human too, whether inside the womb or outside, and science can agree with me on that one. BOTH lives are equally important, therefore all means possible should be used to save both. And in the Declaration of Independence, even our Founding Fathers say that "all men are CREATED equal, that that are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights, and among these are LIFE, liberty, and the persuit of happiness." And if you try to quote the 9th and 14th amendments, you are still wrong. Abortion is murder.
And that's just it, when you say "her body, her choice" Reality check: it may be her body, but there is a body living inside of her that is NOT her body. And killing that body living inside of her is not her choice. It is God's choice and God's choice alone as to whether or not that life should be taken, because GOD created that life and only GOD can is to take it away.
When you think about the population sky-rocketing, world starvation, ect. God says in the Bible to trust him, and no I don't have all of the answers as to why we have world hunger and all of these other horrible things in the world. God allows it though for many reasons. I don't know all of them, but I do know that he wants those who are wealthy to reach out to the poor and try to fix things. And people also have a free will, which is also given to us by God, and there are consequences that go with those choices. Also, just because of a possiblility of "over-population" does that give us a right to destroy a life that God alone created? ONLY GOD ALONE can choose to give or destroy life, not us. We are merely suppose to follow his commandments.
Regarding the rape issue, do you realize that only 1% of women going to have an abortion are vitims of rape and incest? And even if this is the case, like I said it is a human life. And I know that the victim feels as if she would never be able to look at the child again, but what about adoption? It is not the baby's fault that his mother was the victim of another's horrible action.
Also, concerning the comment about women going to other more dangerous means to kill their babies, don't you think that the promotion of the pro-life message might encourge more women to have their babies and that there are other ways and many people who WANT to help? Abortion is extremely dangers for both a mother and her child, no matter what the circumstances. And along with the outlaw of abortion, the government promotion of abstinece, sex ed, and other options for women would help to save so many lives. I'm not saying that women WON'T try to go to other means, but it would lower the chances of them doing so. Outlawing abortion would not only save millions of lives, but it would help others to realize the horrible consequences of abortion. Even if it wouldn't save every life, even if some women would go to other means of having aboriton, it would still save lives and abortion would not be so available and convienent. Just to save one life is a miracle, and even if one life could be saved because of the outlawing of abortion, that would be a wonderful thing because every life is precious and has a reason to be on this earth.
And Squeak Isadork how do you know if your mother would not be alive if she did not have an abortion? You really don't know that, only God does, and many women have survived having their babies even after the doctors said that they would die if they had their babies. And to kill one life to save another is wrong. (I am not condemning you or your mother, I am just saying in general). A baby and its mother both have the same rights because they are both equal in God's eyes.
Thank you for reading this, and that is all I have to say for now.
Well, I'm very glad that you are so assured of your beliefs. But you do realize that not everyone has the same beliefs that you do. Even our own justice system doesn't agree with you. There's something called 'justifiable homicide', which is not a crime in the US. Shocking, isn't it, that the US would consider something you call murder to not be a crime at all.
And to kill one life to save another is wrong. ... A baby and its mother both have the same rights because they are both equal in God's eyes.
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you. I find a life that is already living is much more valuable than a potential life, and while attempts should be made to save both lives, the mother's life is more important if it comes down to choosing one or the other. If both were equal in God's eyes, then why does he allow one to die before it has even had the true chance at life, even before the mother knows about it? Certainly, since the child hasn't DONE anything, God can't be upset with it...

I know that not everyone has the same beliefs as I do, but a just because someone believes something, does not make it true. And I am not saying that my belief is "just another belief" because it is not. It is the truth, because murder is murder, whether the courts say it is or not. Every life is valuable, no matter how long it has been living or not. A life is a life, no matter how you put it, and a child does not have to DO anything to be worth something. We are all of equal value.
just because someone believes something, does not make it true
The same exact thing could be said for you. Your beliefs could be just a belief, no matter how much you believe it to be true (and EVERYONE believes their beliefs are true, else they wouldn't believe them in the first place). You don't know with 100% certainty that it is (and if you do, I'd like proof... the Bible doesn't count).
Furthermore, we're not a nation that makes laws according to religious beliefs.
A life is a life, no matter how you put it, and a child does not have to DO anything to be worth something. We are all of equal value.
So why does God take the lives of 'children' that are in the womb? They haven't even had the chance to live yet, and God is taking their lives. The point of my comment about them DOing something was to say that He can't be upset at them, because they have done nothing to provoke His wrath. They are completely innocent beings, and have not yet sinned.
Oh, and your comment below to deepfnord (I think)... not all soldiers in a war are on the defensive. In fact, by definition, one has to be on the offensive. Which means someone is going into the war with the intent to 'destroy' the other side, whether it be through lives or pride. So your argument about war kinda falls apart.

If it's the truth, prove it. You're not going to convince anyone this unless you present some very sound arguments. I have yet to see one.

And the killing of a human person is never right or a right, no matter what the situation.
I'm curious. What's your opinion on the death penalty? You assert that killing a human is never right, no matter what, and yet you seem very nonchalant about the death penalty. And how about the war? What is your opinion on that? After all, the war is killing a lot of people, and you said it's never right to kill a human no matter what the situation.
(if you can't see the fnords they won't eat you)
I don't believe in the death penalty either. A person that has killed another person does not deserve to die, but deserves to live so that they will have the chance to be sorry for what they have done. Also, I wasn't thinking when I put "no matter what the situation". War is a means of defense, and we are not willingly killing anyone. To willfully kill a human being is wrong. Abortion and the death penalty are both willful killing.
So what you are telling me is that when we decide to invade a sovereign nation based on intelligence that everyone knows is faulty and biased, and when we do it mostly because our leader knows he will be very unpopular without a war, then it is a defensive war?
Invading Afghanistan after 9-11 was a defensive war. WWII was a defensive war. Not so much with this one. I would also like to point out that, yes, we do kill willingly in war. That's what war is: a bunch of people who are willingly killing one another because their beliefs differ.
Also, your beliefs are just...your beliefs. I'm glad you have a religion to believe in, and I'm glad you can exercise your beliefs. But we live in America, and you can not and should not legislate your religion in this country.
(if you can't see the fnords they won't eat you)
I would like to know if the writer uses bug spray, eats meat, buys leather, or accepts vaccinations. You seem very convinced that the "thou shall not kill" thing is absolute law, so I'm assuming that you don't engage in any killing activity.

Oh yes, and one more thing...I left it out, and so did you. What about all those women who have been RAPED!? Are they supposed to keep a child that they don't want?! No, I think your the sick one...
I have to agree with crystalshardz89 about the finding more dangerous ways to abort a baby. If anti-abortion laws were passed, I would not be surprised if coat hanger sales increased.
And another thing I'd like to point out. Just because someone is pro-choice, it does not mean they will go out and have abortions. It just means that they believe it is every woman's right to make her own choice.
You mentioned that people should think about important people important to them. I did. If it wasn't for an abortion, my mother would not still be alive to guide me through life.
You might also think about when it becomes and actual person. I agree with you that it's murder, but when does it really become a person to where to can live on its own to consider it murder? This might sound absurd because I still don't know which way to go on this.
.:VVN:.
It's a person, no matter if the baby can live on it's own or not. A baby has to develop over time in order to live outside the womb. Just like you and me, the baby had to start out some way.
There are people who are born mentally retarded or have serious physical problems, but they are still people, even if they cannot live on thier own. A person is a person. No matter what time of development they are in.
A better example would be someone on life support, since a mentally retarded person can physically live without help. They just need assistance in order to get the things they need (such as food, etc).
So, how do you feel about pulling the plug? I mean, should we honestly keep someone alive if they were meant to die?
(Note to everyone reading this... I just want her opinion, and I am not arguing for a return to the 'natural' way).

I agree with a comment earlier said about the mother and the unborn child both being equal human beings. What you're saying is that the woman has not right to abort the unborn baby, even if it is a serious danger to her health (i.e. she could die), because while it is her choice to govern her own body, the baby's is not her body. So then wouldn't it be the same situation for the baby? It has no right to take the life from the mother (better put, mother dies from pregnancy/birth complications). I'm not saying that either is right or wrong, but wouldn't it only be sensible to assume that it is equally as unfair for the mother to die as it is for the baby? If both lives are equal then neither can have precedent over the other. So there's kind of a contradiction when you say that the woman has no right to choose to abort the baby, even if she is going to die, because that's valuing the baby more than the mother.
Also, at the time an abortion would take place, most people arguing Pro-Choice would agree that the "baby" is not yet a person. It is an embryo or a fetus. If the abortion is had before the 5th week of pregnancy, then it does not yet have a heartbeat, if it is had before week 8, it will not yet resemble a human being, or have had much brain development. My point is not to say that you're wrong to call it a child, but rather to point out that people may be arguing different things here.
While it may surprise you, I actually feel that abortion is not a good thing, but I am, however, pro-choice. Like Squeak Isadork said, although I'm pro-choice, that doesn't mean that I'm going to go out and have an abortion if I get in a bad situation, because I think abortion is wrong, at least for me. But I also believe that it is a woman's choice. While the fetus/embryo/baby is indeed another body inside of her body, it is made up from her body and is not yet separate. It is still a part of her, and so it is still her choice.
To be honest, maybe for some people abortion is the right option. While I think adoption is better, there is no guarantee for a better life than the child would have with their biological mother who didn't want them. Foster care can be terrible, and there is nothing sadder than a child who hates life already. If the mother were to keep the baby because abortion was illegal and she "had to" for some reason, she could ruin that child's life, which is just as bad as not giving it the chance to live in the first place.
You dont like abortions this much, dont get one.
You seem to be very uneducated, for numerous reasons::
You're Christian, and that's great. Many Americans are not, so dont expect them to follow your doctrines.
How do you feel about miscarriages? A woman could be pregnant and then miscarry and never know she was pregnant--what's the point? How do you justify that with God?
Unless you were raped you cannot possibly understand what those women feel. Someone forced you to have sex, an emotional scar to start, and then you are pregnant? You have to carry around a physical reminder 24/7 for nine entire months--a huge weight on your shoulders next to your emotional one. But it doesnt end there--NOW you have a baby, a constant reminder with needs. A physical representation of a most unfortunate union. Even were that child to be put up for adoption it would have huge emotional scars. (Presuming the raped woman doesn't off them both in her emotional turmoil)
To be honest, as a woman in America I am offended by your entry.
For the record, I wasn't raped and I never had an abortion.
Hug a musician, they never get to dance.
i support the use of abortion because its a personal right. i dont agree with people who use abortion as a means of birth control, but its still their right. i dont believe the baby is a baby until the third trimester, when doctors say that the baby can feel pain. i know that a lot of people disagree with me, and i respect your opinins as i would hope you would respect mine.
if we outlaw abortion, then we are sending a message that we, as a nation, support the restriction of civil rights. you can argue that the unborn baby has civil rights as well, but the baby is not reconized by the government or given an idententy (sp?) until after it is born. also if abortion is outlawed, coat hanger abortions will become very common again and will result in the deaths of many women.
now i leave you with a true event that happened to my mother. she had protected sex with her boyfriend at the age of 15. the condom broke and she got pregnant. she decided to get an abortion, having her boyfriends mom go with her, because she knew that if she told her abusive father that she was pregnant she would get beaten so hard that she would problity loose the baby and then get kicked out. would you say that she cant get an abortion, even though the baby would have died anyway and she would have been severly hurt and thrown out of her house?
btw, i am a christain. so for those who think that all christains are consertive and against abortion/death pentalty/gay marriage etc, please dont use sterotypes. we're not all closed minded.
