Let me first establish that I am registered Democrat and support Obama. However, simply because I am voting for him, does not mean that I don't have qualms about this election in it's entirety. In fact, I think all three major candidates, Obama, Clinton and McCane, are poor choices, given present circumstances, for potential leaders. It is sad but true, that our country is still quite racially divided. An enormous majority of voters in this election are in the senior citizen category and morbidly against a black president. Added to that, the northern and southern states are still in disagreement on terms of equality. To be blunt, racism against blacks is all to prevalent in the South. As a New Yorker myself, I do understand, and think everyone else should too; not all southerners are blazing racist white supremacists. This less than equal mind set though, is not helping to promoted unity in the country and will, more than likely become a major factor should Obama win the coming election. With that said, we are also presently involved in a war with a people that have no respect for women. In many of the countries our military currently occupies women are not even able to leave the house if not accompanied by a male. If the democrats are pressing diplomacy (which I do agree with) for our foreign policy and the projected course of action in the resolution of this war, how does Hillary expect to be taken at all seriously by the leaders of these cultures? Just to prevent any surprises here. I will be outright with this and say right now, that I can not stand Hilary. So as to prevent my self from sounding ignorant, I will not elaborate on this at present. You will, I'm sure, see, in a manner I will be more proud of, just why I can't stand her and what I think about her in coming topics. Moving on. The republican policy of general brutality, ie. refusing to sit a talk with our adversaries, is not working. In the 2 terms George Bush has been in office America's representation has literally thrown all intellectual prowess down the toilet and have been bumbling around like a very confused and very large bully. So, I think most of us can agree that what has been used isn't working. Why then, is John McCane running for president with a plan that is entirely the same as what we have had for the last 8 years? It makes little sense that we continue something that doesn't work.
I really think this election is just the wrong selection for the time. In ten or fifteen years, when the extreme conservative senior generation has died out (I don't mean to sound like I am avidly awaiting this, but in being truthful it is going to happen.) along with their "old world" ideals of segregation, white supremacy, patriarchal dominance and resistance to change, I really believe the country as a whole would respond better to the candidates of the Democratic party. The only problem with this idea is that, in ten or fifteen years, McCane, a senior himself, will also probably be deceased. The man is just too old and possess too many of those "old person" ideals to run a country that is in current desperate need of FORWARD MOVEMENT!
I think thats enough for this post. This little rant pretty much came from a debate I was having with my boyfriends father (Who by the way is a brainless idiot!) and I might have gotten a tad overly worked up. In a pleading message to EVERYONE, I ask, Please, PLEASE know your facts! Read the news, check your facts and keep an open mind. It is not enough to just listen to the media of your choosing and take that side. You have to develop your OWN opinion. PLEASE think for yourself people.
Have a great day everyone!

I think its every Americans right to be racist if they so choose, I mean I have the freedom to enjoy a genre of music say...country ( I hate country for the most part) and like other types of music, I think people can be the same way about being racist or not, if you want to be fine and if not all the better.
as far as everyone running is a bad call, you're right, Clinton is a joke, obama is living in a fantasy world, and McCane will do the least amount of damage.
the best looking guy (and I mean physically good looking) was definitly the Mitt-n-ator, he's way better looking that any of the other people. he was a Ronald Reagan type president, just the leader this country needs! but oh well.
race and sex, yeah their issues, look at history, no civilization piloted by women has succeeded , and did you see 300? I mean come on.
the problem is simply that government is too big and too overbearing, we need to cut the fat, get rid of 100% of social programs and let the american people take care of themselves, if you compare Private charity organizations to federal ones and its easy to see that private industry is better for 95% of things out there and government is ideal and necessary for 5% of stuff.
if you want to be a communist democrat and pay 100% tax rates go move to Canada their fast on their way there.
First off, his name is McCain, not McCane. It is hard to take your critique of McCain seriously when you cannot spell his name correctly. It makes one wonder how much you actually know about him and his political stances. (This is, actually, a great election for a liberal as the most conservative person running of the top three is a moderate, otherwise known as a liberal Republican)
I am still, however, confused as to why 60% of white democrats voting for hillary is considered racist, but 90% of black democrats voting for obama is not considered racist.
Why is it racist for white democrats to vote for a white person, but not racist for black democrats to vote for a black person?
