Gays in America

It always hurts me to see when other people are discriminated against because they are different. Over America's history there has always been a group that has been discriminated against, and in this dayand age it is Gay people. They are no different from anyone else they just have a different sexual prefrence. Yet for some reason the people of this country treat Gays and Lesbians are treated like a lowerspecies. What they do in their private lives and who they decide to fall in love with is no one elses concern. And who is to say that their love isn't real, love comes in all forms and it is whatever feel right you. One thing about this issue that really bothers me is when people argue against gays because of religious reasons. Your religion may say that it is wrong to be gay but not everyone is apart of your religion and that can't be your only reason. There are many different beliefs and religions in this country and laws cant be passed because one religion thinks its wrong, that's not practical or fair. Also a lot of these arguments are very hippocritical. Most of the core beliefs in most religions is to love everyone, yet these people are showing nothing but hate. They say that God hates Gay people but they have no real proof of this. All that the Gay population really wants is to be able to get married and recieve the same rights as everyone else. This country went through this same stuff with the rights of the African Americans, you would think by now that we would know better than to denie rights to American citizens. Just let the Gays get married, believe it or not it wouldn't bring about the Apocalypse like some people seem to think.
