Sweeny Todd was a real serial killer-so I'm told. Though they played up the story, I loved the message! There was a corrupt judge who didn't care about his people, and could get whatever he desired. Typical government; and a poor man, (Sweeny Todd) a barber who had a loving wife and baby; they seemed to have the perfect and happy life! They had no money and yet they had the sparkle in their eyes that told you they were truly happy.
When the judge destroyed his life, by stealing his child and wife, and sending him to another country, he came back prepared for his revenge and to start life with his family again. His only trusted friend had lied and told him his wife poisoned herself. His daughter was left in the care of the corrupt and perverted judge while his wife secretly roamed the streets, unrecognizable. He had so much love for his family that hearing this made him believe that everyone was evil and only cared for themselves. He lost his morals and had lost all respect for humanity.
With this new change, he gave to everyone what he believed they deserved. Death. I don’t want to ruin the story for those who have not seen this movie so I will just say this: in the end the moral of the story is, you don’t decide what others deserve, God does, and in the end he will have the true judgment for every sin and every good deed that we have done, and we will get what we deserve.
