If We Don’t Like Super Skinny Models, Why Are They Still Here?

A study was done a few years back in which immediately after looking at ads in fashion magazines and the models in those ads, undergraduate female subjects showed a greater rise in depression and hostility than did women exposed to ads without pictures with people.

Ladies: Don’t we sometimes feel bad about ourselves just a little every now and then when we are bombarded by these super sexy models? Even those of use who are self assured in our body size ocassionally wish to be a little smaller or taller, or have a cuter nose.

Men: Do you ever find yourself wishing a girl like in the ads would walk down the street and look your way? Do you ever wish that the suit on the Giovanni man looked as good on you? Perhaps only the expensive shirts make you look good?

Here we are questioning our own esteem while the glittery people in the glossy pages smile out. Why do we love them so much? People like to see beautiful people, yet at the same time we secretly envy them. Why then, don’t we simply get rid of the super skinny models, or the ones with unnaturally attained cup sizes, the super tiny pointed shoes that could kill a roach in a tight corner. Why do men want to be extraordinarily muscled and have square jaws. Why are men that are taller considered more healthy and verile?

I suggest that the biggest leap we could take to improve society as a whole is to have normal people in Ads. I’m serious, I want to see an elderly stooped man in a Giovanni suit buying vegetables at the corner market. I want to see my Mom sporting a Prada bag on her shoulder and comfortable Clark shoes on her feet. I basically want to see a world in which fashion is aptly suited for the real, everyday person.

I want to see pants that cover someone’s Butt!

So be happy with the size of your hips. Love the size of your feet. Appreciate your nose and your jaw line. Don’t worry about virility, for true love is the best arousal. And for Pete’s sake don’t worry about wrinkles!!
