Modern technology is nice. We use it everyday some more than others but are we too focused on technology to dependant upon it? My friend Maddie and I went to the mall nothing exciting. We were using the restroom and when we were washing our hands she put her hands under the soap dispenser moving them around waiting for some soap. Nothing came out, it’s not automatic - she had to manually push the button. Maddie then placed her hands under the faucet no water came out. Manual again, she sighed and turned the handle so water came out. Then she placed her hands under the towel dispenser nothing came out she had to pull it out her self. “God D*** it, do I have to do everything my self!?” I just laughed but this is actually rather alarming. Do we place too much on technology? Were dependant but are we too dependant. Where is that line? The one where we can do things for our selves and the one where machines are doing everything for us…. Do you do things yourself or has modern technology taken over?

I don't think technology has taken over. It's just a matter of what you are willing to do for yourself. In the matter of the bathroom conveniences, it is more sanitary to not have to touch the faucet etc. But I don't think these devices are going to be showing up in your home bathroom anytime soon. Part of this 'dependancy' is because this generation is getting lazy and takes so many things for granted. In a world were people are being taught to recycle why aren't more people making their own clothes? I just recently learned how to knit and I love it. I would much rather make myself a scarf then buy one from a store. I don't create a whole lot of unneccasry waste in knitting.
In the case of automatic water and paper towel dispensers, I think those are excellent ideas that promote more sanitary conditions. Think about how many germs are on the handles of a faucet, especially since they are touched right after someone has used the bathroom. I understand exactly what you're saying, I just wanted to point out the health benefits of the automatic inventions.
you both have a valid point. I understand the health benifits I just do not understand why a person would be mad about having to do it themselves. And this is just an example people are dependant in other areas as well but it was just supprizing to me to see someone mad becasue they had to turn on a sink themselves. People used to have to walk to get water... We have running water and were mad when we have to turn the handle our self.
